TN: 2009 TYRRELL"S Vat 1 Semillon-Hunter Valley

Had high expectations, this wine has been praised before. I am a big fan of Vat 1, the 1989 still resonates in my mind as one of the greatest aussie whites ever. It is now 20 years later, the 2009 is out.
Slight hay with gold. Very clear, very bright. Cutrus, white fruits on the nose, somewhat reserved. Soft, juicy palate with ripeness, but loose and unfortunately, clearly diluted. Fine acid finish but lacking character, concentration and greatness. Tastes like a mislabelled Semillon from the extensive Tyrrell's range at around the $ 15-20 mark. Lacking distinction.
Pleasant wine to drink, but not a keeper, now to max 8 years.
90 points.
About $40 but not a great buy this year. I am somewhat disappointed, wanted to put some in the cellar for my son's 21st but it's not going to happen now.
