Hi all,

I'm planning an Adelaide Hills tasting with a group of friends. We're looking at going to Barrat wines, and Ashton Hills, (which are close to each other), and Shaw & Smith and The Lane (which are close to each other), with lunch at either the Aldgate Pump or the Scenic (Norton Summit). The problem is, there is quite a distance between the three areas (Barrat/Ashton, Aldgate pump and Shaw/Lane), and I wondered if anyone could suggest a winery in the Piccadilly, Mt George area that has a cellar door open for tasting!

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

We've done similar days before, and it's actually not too far from Barratt to Aldgate; I'd think you'd make it in 20 minutes. Having said that, we normally drop in to Petaluma's Cellar Door at Bridgewater Mill to break up the drive down to Hahndorf. Cellar door prices not particularly sharp, but they usually have the full range on tasting, and it's a beautiful place to taste wine.

Leabrook Estate is pretty much halfway on the trip between the two sets of wineries you plan to visit.

It also might be worth a PM to Tom Munro, as Whisson Lake at Carey Gully is on the way and if he's around I'm sure he'd be able to show you their wines and a thing or two about about the property.
