Gilly handles it very well...there are a few other ladies behind the scenes at the wineries so it's not all bad for her

A bump so someone that went can tell the poor people in Brisbane what they have to wait until 2011 for...

I had a great night and it did get busy for a while but managed to get around and pick stands when they weren't busy.

To me for QPR across the range of wines Teusner & Kalleske were the standouts. The Independent from Teusner and Clarry's GSM from Kalleske were just superb for the price - I couldn't fault any of them but was surprised I preferred the Eduard over the Johann from Kalleske and the Greenock over the Moppa in the Shiraz.

Teusner the FG was FG and two comparisons on the Albert an 08 and 04. Both very good. Dog Strangler was excellent as well.

Sons of Eden Kennedy is as good as all the wraps people put on it. I also preferred the Remus over the Romulus.

Standish was great and I have a bit of a soft spot for his wines - the standout being the 08 Andelmonde for me. I wasn't overly impressed with Massena though.

Schwarz I enjoyed and thought were good for the price.

John Duval and Spinifex very good. Just solid wines.

Dutschke loved the Cab Mac as an easy drinking wine. The St Jakobi and Oscar Semmler were nice as well.

Hobbs I thought while good was overpriced.

Tin Shed and Radford I enjoyed but the pallet was getting shot by then.

I certainly enjoyed the evening and wasn't meant to be too serious. A last night out with a couple of mates who enjoy wine before all our babies are due - all within the next month.

Absolutely agreed on the Clarry's - superb at the price. Enjoyed Teusner too but the Independent wasn't my pick as their standout - that was probably the Avatar. Was the Independent the completely unoaked one?

Me too. I was told the Johann would reward patience but as you say, on the night I liked the Eduard more. Both excellent, it has to be said.

I'm glad it wasn't just me then! Was feeling distinctly wobbly by the time I got home.

I think you're thinking of the Joshua. Independent is the Shiraz Mataro. I'm not a fan of the Joshua...Some GSM's are fine without oak and some taste like they're missing something..Just brighter fruit and then blah...

I really liked John Duval's stuff...this was the first time I've tried his label...very nice....I'm sure I'll be buying some of his stuff in the future...

Standish was nice....Andelmonde was definitely a more drink now type of wine....The Standish was nice but just too too tannic at this stage for me....

Hobbs was good..very nice wine...I think they're a bit overpriced though....

It was a very nice event...maybe a bit tight in there after 6 but overall quite good. There weren't too many whites there but then again, I'm not sure there are any whites from the Barossa that I think are particularly fantastic...
