1984 Penfolds St. Henri Shiraz
Light brown with red tinges. Rick blackberry and prune nose, hint of smoky oak, not very developed. Palate is obviously lacking the depth or concentration of a great vintage (1984 was average for Penfolds). Medium-bodied with length that is a bit short, and slightly unbalanced. Finishes with oak, tannin, and alcohol. Appears well past its best and the fruit is fading. A good wine that has seen better days and remains one-dimensional. Consistent notes with a bottle tasted six months ago. Good 16.5 / 20
