1998 JJ Prum wehlener sonnenuhr riesling spätlese
Just a little TCA  Underneath only some mango escaping the corked captivity. Palate perfectly poised with spritz still present. B*st*rd of a cork.

Time to open a screwcap methinks...

cheers

Carl

2009 Clonakilla Viognier Nouveau-
Urggh, banana-rama. Although, a little spicier, and less heavy than the last bottle. Mental note- next year, buy less, and drink them faster. Not Good.

Shame to hear. Maybe what I picked as a hint of bubblegum has turned into the banana? Just a thought...

2007 West Cape Howe Shiraz- Highly perfumed, deep purple, spicy plums, medium bodied, just the slightest hint of heat on the finish. Good.

Cheers,

Monghead

Cape Mentelle Chardonnay 2007 - Nice grapefruit nose, and follows through quite well, but a hit of acid along for the ride too. Might like another year or two perhaps. Good.
Cape Mentelle Chardonnay 2008 - Grapefruit and more stonefruit this time, in fact more fruit weight overall than the 2007, and longer too. Very Good.
Penfolds Bin 389 Cab Shz 1998 - Not the best bottle I've had of this, quite muted for most of the night, but did start to emerge just before bedtime :-( . Was sipping and enjoying until the last possible moment from then on... Mixed Good.

Cheers

Grosset Gaia Cabernets 1999 - this was a much more attractive wine to me about 3 years ago. It has now lost quite a lot of its fruit. In addition, the bottle I opened was a bit musty. Otherwise, still a reasonable wine. However, I will be drinking the rest of it pretty quick smart.

St Hallet Blackwell shiraz 2006 (half bottle) - this, on the other hand, has developed significantly and positively over the last year. It is a lovely bottle of wine, full of dark berry fruits, and a lovely, focused chocolate/liquorice finish. Good, dark chocolate, liquorice, and berry fruit nose as well.

1995 Redbank Sally's Paddock fully mature, good acid balance, fruit sound. This bottle a little cloudy so am drinking up.
2003 Roda 2 This came in 375ml format, still very primary ,deep uprple colour, I tend not to find too much on the nose with these other than a none descript deep fruit . Delicious with the BBQ standing rib eye
2007 Tigress rieslingthis continues to be a luscious wine. good mouthfeel, and length of palate. not what you would call off dry but it is sweeter than say a clare riesling

To think it’s only Thursday.

Xanadu 2008 Chard: Good weight, bit of creaminess, pretty good.
Hoddles Creek 2007 Pinot Noir: Nice light style, went with pizza ok.
Hoddles Creek 2008 Pinot Noir: Nice, unfiltered cloudy look, definitely a step up on the 07, alluring nose.
Mike Press 2005 Shiraz: This and the 05 Cab have been the standouts since getting on board the Mike Press phenomenon.
Clonakilla 2007 Hilltops Shiraz: Intoxicating nose. Touch lean on the palate but good drink.
cheers
