This IS going to be an expensive holiday! We'll look forward to hearing about these in the 1996 thread. Sounds like you're having fun.

Careful, these are at their best when young and they rarely mellow with age.

TN: I was just going to write: 'Good', but I know you all like a bit more detail these days, so:
TN: Good, although a bit sharp; 'fuzzy' 'round the edges and raw (or roar, take your pick) in the middle. Needs more time

I think we are all waiting for a more complete explanation.
A mate's dad was a vet who ended up with two baby lions at one stage. The family pet rabbit did not survive the length of the lions' stay
Not to mention dad was far more keen to tell stories about having lions than anything his sons did as they grew up

G'day DJ
I was inspired by some of the extravagant sharing on the regular Sunday thread.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10741&start=30You had to really read the thread first to "get" the joke.
Cheers

I know you take a risk buying at auction, especially older wines, but I just paid a hammer price at Langtons of $174 for a bottle of Penfolds Bin 920. That's got to be seriously good value, especially when you consider what 2nd rate Grange sells for...
cheers,
Graeme

Just cleared my local out of their Clonakilla shiraz viognier bargains so:
4* 08 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier
3* 08 Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz
2* 08 Clonakilla O'Riada Shiraz
3* 05 Ulithorne Frux Frugis Shiraz
Also a box of wine arrived this morning which I assume is a mixed dozen of the Mac Forbes Pinots with, I think, three rieslings as part of the mix.

Daz you put that so much more eloquently than the words I had in mind. I intend to make my way to Switzerland next year for the sole purpose of saying "hi" to Redwine ..... and his cellar.
For me, just a couple of magnums of Clos des Papes 07 for my baby girl and some Leeuwin Art Series Chard 05 for my wee boy, all birthyear wines.
