Will be in Margaret River over the coming weekend (heading off to Perth tomorrow) and have a pretty good idea of wineries to go to, however was interested in anybody's thoughts on the following:

- Any non winery must dos in the Margaret River
- Is it worth making an appointment at Moss Wood (I am guessing it is but wondered if others have had any experience)
- I was considering McHenry Hohnen, Victory Point and Stella Bella but seems they are not open. Has anybody been to any of these or had success making an appointment?
- Are there any wineries that maybe a person (such as me) would not think of going to but people think should really be tried.

Some broad questions above but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Leeuwin Estate, Cullen, Vasse Felix, Hay Shed Hill and Voyager Estate are "must-visits" imo.

Not really on MossWood. Was a little underwhelming when visited, best keep the mystery alive and bypass IMO. Great private cellar but nothing really that different to see due to not being made as a tourist destination. Cellar door wine price insane. Having said that, if you haven’t tried their range in while, then it is worth that alone I guess (and a barrel sample).

A lunch platter and visit to the Lavender farm is excellent, then up the road to Valhalla coffee for some tastings of a different kind (nice location too). They are a good wine tasting breaker and in the midst of it all. Also the Venison farm is great to taste some outstanding smallgoods (best chorizo in the world, unbeatable) and take some fresh prime cuts back if you have self contained accommodation.

A heap to see and do but make sure you visit the famous surf break.

Vasse Felix for lunch. Lots of people will tell you Voyager but they're all wrong...

Smith's Beach is good if you're looking for somewhere to stay, or just a beach.

brookland valley is really good for lunch, good food and views. + friendly staff. i recommend trying their tawny port.
non wine things - the choccy factory (right up their with lindt imo) and surfers point for some nice views of the waves!
