So, had a couple of scotch fillets and decided that a nice red was in order to compliment them. Thought I'd get something good from the cellar but it didn't seem to pan out that way...
Kaesler The Bogan 2006 - Fruit subdued under a hunk of acid with some decent oak but not really enjoyable.
Sandalford Cab Sav 2002 - with a host of medals adorning the bottle. The tannins were there but a bit harsh and bitter fruit made the whole thing seem like was not really in balance.
Torzi Matthews Schist Rock 2008 - Opened a bit confected and jammy but really started to hit its straps after half an hour or so as the fruit and oak came into its own and continued to get better to remain the best drink of the night.
I have the majority of the Sandalford and the Bogan remaining and I'll give them another whirl tomorrow night but it is interesting that the $50 and $25 wines pale to the $16 wine on this occassion.
