It's been a while since the last duck extravaganza and after repeated calls for another mass cull off our feathered friends, here is your chance to indulge.
Regal on Roe is opposite Perth train station and is fully BYO. The lovely Madam Celina will be liaising with the head chef to arrange a banquet of Chinese New Year proportions.
The cost is $40/head which should get us Peking duck, 8 treasure duck, roast pork, coral trout done 2 ways, moss & abalone (or similar) plus more dishes that you can name in one breath.
The numbers will be capped at around 20 people (two tables) for logistical purposes.
So far the following are confirmed;
Celina & Luigi
Chris
DaveL & partner
Davo & partner
dazza1968 & partner
Me & Rebecca
Cranky
Rick Morcom
Menu
1) Peking Duck
1a) Sangchow Pow (minced duck in lettuce cup)
2) Crabmeat/fish maw soup
3) Coral Trout served 2 ways* (deep fried and stir fry)
4) 8 Treasure Duck *servced on a spinach base
5) Golden King Prawn cooked with Duck Yolk
6) Fried Milk n Peking Ribs (or substitue this with roast pork)
7) Scallop n Snow Peas cooked in XO Sauce
8 Japanese Tofu with sizzling sauce
9) Fried Rice/Steam Rice
10) Dessert (choose either Sago in coconut milk or red bean)
11) Fresh Fruit Platter
* denotes house specialty dishes that requires 24 hrs notice
Please respond if keen.
Cheers
Carl

Pretty much. Perth usually doesn't have a theme but now and then we do.
cheers

Bloody hell. $40 for all that. You're going to get a very rude shock when you get back to Sydney finally, Carl!
In some restaurants you're lucky to get a single course for that price.

Oh this menu certainly is a bargain!
I just hope the Portuguese chicken prices over in Petersham/Dulwich Hill haven't gone up too much. I am suffering as none that I know of in Perth.
But seriously, Perth lacks a Good Food Guide that would get the top restaurants to lift their game over here. The top restaurants here would be middle rank at best over in Sydney. It seems that the Gourmet traveller guide agrees.
cheers

It's not necessarily a GOOD food guide, but might point you in the right direction.
Once upon a decade, 'Dear Friends' in Caversham was the only fine dining (apparently) in Perth. There is no shortage of options now, and if you really want menu + winelist = Balthazar. Or Friends.

I KNEW someone was going to say that. So, I didn't.

I would have thought 'me' was appropriate in this case as the names were the objects of the original sentence as opposed to being the subjects.
Of course 'I' may be wrong here

Definitely showing your lower/middle class status here Carl. Although most would say that Australia has no real upper class, just those with pretentions

I prefer both quality food and wine. You can do it whichever way you like.

Davo,
if Griff had said "Rebecca and I are going to the dinner" then the "I" would be correct.
Basically he is answering a question:-"who is going to dinner?" to which his answer is "Rebecca and me".
QED.
Just Googled this. It is a business name.
Rebecca & Me
2909 E Covenanter Dr
Bloomington, IN 47401
812-334-7878
QED 2

I am not certain the Americans have yet achieved a proper grasp of English.
And I find myself in complete agreement with DD. Myself is far more preferable to me in the context used.

I love a nice debate over grammar. IMO Muscat Mike is essentially correct, but for the reason that Carl was effectively reading from a list. If you were reading a list of people and came to your name would you say "me" or "I"? I think it would be correct to say "me".
I have in my hand the list of top grammar analysts on the Auswine forum:
Muscat Mike
Carl
Darryl Douglas
Me
Davo
Saying "I" in such a context would not ring true. That Carl is grouping the list of attendees into their (natural?) pairs is neither here nor there. I am not sure about the politeness or class issues, but to me it rings true whether me and Rebecca or Rebecca and me.
"Myself" is reflexive and I don't see how it can be used in these circumstances.
My 2c
Michael
PS Not sure that a restaurant name really lends any weight to your argument Mike as there is tendency for restaurants to opt for catchy, rather than grammatically correct, names.

Sorry different type of list and circumstance.
Your list is of individuals, not couples.
The list is basically an abbreviation of the sentence "Rebecca and I will be attending".
I stand by my original correction, and the fact that American English is not really English at all..
You are however correct in the use of "me" in your list, which is purely a lit of names.
Oooh, I do like a good discussion re grammar.
