Ever since we confirmed the above quotation from the great winemaker during our HKWS trip to Piedmont, I have been collecting bottles from this special Cru with an event on my mind.
So here it is, a tasting of all the significant producers of Barbaresco Asili.
Dinner wines will be served in pairs. First, we will compare two white wine (Timorasso), "Pitasso" from legendary producer Claudio Mariotto against the first vintage of Luca Roagna's Derthona Montemarzino. Next is the 1985 pair of Ceretto Barbaresco Asij and Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Asili, before we move to the battle of the Titans: 2007 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Reserva vs 2007 Roagna Barbaresco Asili VV.
