I am not too keen on the main. It's far too Asian influenced for me (and possibly for Jamie too).
Any chance of asking Brad for a more Frenchy style dish?
Quince tart works for me though.

Geez Nayan, I thought Bradley was going out of his way to give us all a dessert for just $5 extra, now you want to change the main?
I actually thought the Pork dish looked pretty good - an east vs west kind of slant which would have been acceptable to both you and Jamie.
Cheers,
Ian

I'm OK with the dish as long as it doesn't ruin the robust reds that will no doubt be passed from left to right around the table.

I'm sitting on the left!
What's the verdict, shall I ask for a revision of the main course or leave it as is? What about dessert?
Cheers,
Mark

Pam and I just got back from a busmans holiday at Rutherglen. Liver still in a sling.
Is there room for both of us?

I thought the eye fillet was great as the main course last time, and it would possibly suit the big reds better too - it depends on if that's what people prefer and if Bradley would be willing to substitute it.
Cheers,
Ian

Yes - just as long as you let us know in advance how many will be going to give SOHO a firm idea (so add a +1 or more to your name).

It's not looking good at this stage...
According to John, Susan's apparently threatened not to go this time unless some more show up, and if Nick's wife Cathy's at home with the new bub, Pam's looking like the only one at the moment.
Cheers,
Ian

Sorry mate, just over the whole fusion thing at the moment. Having said that I will eat anything that Bradley cooks, and I know I'll enjoy it.

I'll call Bradley tomorrow and ask him about substituting the main.
It might push the price up by a few dollars, though...

I am going to bring one bottle of white and one bottle of red. Have no clue of particular wines yet.

My mate can't come, so there's no +1 from me.
I had a floozy lined up to add to the female quota but she's going to be out of town.
With regards to wine, I'm not sure. Some interesting looking Chinese stuff my parents picked up for me will make an appearance, and I'll bring a bottle or two of some other stuff.

Yeah, I heard Paris couldn't make it - something about some problem with her car.

Still waiting to hear from Brendan re- changing the main course. I let you know as soon as I find out.
Edit: I've just downloaded my mail, Brendan sent the following:
Greetings Mark,
No Problem, i will substitute with the current Fillet dish on our A La Carte menu. The Beef fit really well last time with the wines on offer. I had thought that if i offered up the Beef again i would be being a little bit predictable, never the less this is the current Beef.
"Grain Fed Fillet of Beef served on Pomme Rosti, Sauce Bourgogne, English Spinach."
Cheers,
Mark

Okay I think that settles the menu then and you can confirm it with Bradley unless there's any further comments:
Entrée
Poussin Galantine filled with a farce of Corn Fed Chicken and Black Truffle Salsa and served with Roasted Garlic Risotto and Kalamata Jus.
Main
Grain Fed Fillet of Beef served on Pomme Rosti, Sauce Bourgogne, English Spinach.
Dessert
Warm Quince Tart topped with Blueberry Ice Cream, sesame Crisp and Chocolate Fudge Sauce.
(Suited to Fortified Wines)
As discussed, guests are to BYO glasses as well, it really helps to keep the cost down. However as last time we will happily provide Sparkling glasses if required. The cost this time around will come in at $55 per head including BYO.
Now we just have to finalise who's definitely going and work out what we're taking.
Cheers,
Ian

I wouldn't mind attending my first offline. I've got a 4 litre tangled vine soft dry red which i heard is drinking well according to the man in the parklands. Failing that I could get a de borts sacred hill out of the wine cabinet.
So am I welcome?

From your previous posts, I know you drink better than that. More the merrier, though, in my opinion.

I talked to Duane yesterday and he's a very good chance to show up with Bec at the offline, so I've added them to the list.
Has anyone decided what wines they're going to take yet? I'm thinking of taking a magnum of 1970 Chateau Meyney I was planning to drink with Nayan before he goes off to Portugal, a 1972 Stoneyfell Metala VP to finish with, and maybe a token white or option bottle if Chas can't make it.
I'm also a little wary that if there's a lot of blockbusters like last time the Bordeaux could be overwhelmed or it may not come up when I pull the cork, so this could change in a hurry.
Cheers,
Ian

I agree Ian, let's assign an order to the wines this time.
ie
White fizz, then Riesling or Chard, then aged whites.
Intermission
Red Fizz, then Burgs, then Bordeaux, then Barossa / Mclaren Vale reds last
Stickies, Fortifieds etc

Geez Mark you get around.....dining south of the border
Remember to take your thermals......bloody cold away from sunny Queensland.
When I lived in Snowtown I remember dining at a wonderful restaurant in Adelaide...
http://www.alphutte.com.au/
One of the more memorable experiences. And there was this little licensed cafe in Myers (city store)....great for lunch in between shopping.
Have a nice night guys

Hi all - I'm pretty sure I'll be in Adelaide the day of the offline. I'm leaving for Oz tomorrow, and will be travelling a while before heading to Adelaide, so I don't think I could bring some bottles from home (wines might be damaged getting there). So unfortunately I'll be limited to what I can buy at cellar doors or retail in Adelaide.
Under these less than optimal conditions, would this Canuck attending the offline be a possibility? I could confirm 4-5 days before the event.
Also, if so, what would the best retail store in Adelaide be the best bet to pick up older vintages?

If you're that keen and can make it I think you'll be very welcome.
I'll PM you in regard to where you can get something.

Let me know, I may be able to assist?
