my experience mirrors those of the groups.... the BL is often better than the JR.
also, as I expected, the wines beyond the 91 seemed to have performed relatively poorly, consistent with my experience. In particular, I'm guessing the 96 BL wasn't corked, it is a total dud of a wine, the other BL's (and JR's) from that era not a lot better. Those poorly performing wines can be traced back to horrendous vineyard management and poor wine-making. No other way to explain how Wynns completely missed with the best Coonawarra vintage in ages (96)

I think it was last year that I opened a bottle of 1996 BL and it was indeed a dud bottle. I thought it was a one off and but in light of your comment I might have to reconsider. I still have three bottles left so I guess I will eventually get to come to know.
When do you think Wynns started to put things in order?
