 I knew they made a lot, but not that much

Surely with that many made there has to be some batch variation and hence bottle variation...

Single vineyard as far as the eye can see...

Thinking about getting 6 X 2012 Wynns Coonawarra shiraz.
Anyone tried this, bought any etc etc.?
For the prices I've seen around it seems like pretty good value.

12 * 2012 majella musician cab/shiraz. My new everydayer. What a cracking wine, and in my opinion is better than the 2011 cabernet.....which I did not like at all.

Scotty Vino,
well known here on the forum that I am a pretty big Wynns fan.
I thought it was a great VFM proposition. I have drunk 6-10 bottles over the last 6 months or so. it is very fruit driven but not harsh and has a nice mouth feel. Under screw cap will out last me probably.
I think along with the other 2012 Wynns, all the wines will be really good.

I got 4 dozen for a tick over $500 the lot, after the chains flogged it within an inch of its life!
This along with the Metala (Yes Ian trying my best to put a dent in the 518 000 bottles) is a wine in this vintage that I would buy 20 cases! The 2012 red stripe looks pretty good too.

Cheers Craig

Just bought 12 x Metala white label 2010 based on the many recommendations here. Should I grab a dozen of the 2012 as well? I have never tried this before.

Yes get 12...its a no brainer particularly if around $12 or so. It also cellars beautifully, I still have examples from the 80s and 90s that are an absolute treat.
Metala reminds me of the betting leading up to the Melbourne cup...only takes one or two bets to spook the market and the odds fall
TWE trolls through here, they will get wind that Ausforumites love this wine and push up the price ha ha   .
I am thinking about another 12 of the 2012 and then that will probably do.

Going by some of the absolute eye watering purchases of Wendouree, I figure of the couple of dozen Wendouree that I have ordered... that is 8 cases in Metala speak.

Cheers Craig

Thanks for that. Seen a very good deal for a half case of the Wynns Shiraz at an unnamed local merchant.
Will grab some Metala too.
For all the reviews and recommendations on both wines, at the prices I've seen, it's a no brainer.

I would love to see what your cellar looks like Mike! Every time i see your name appear in the monthly purchases, I admire (with immense jealousy  ) the quantity of top quality wines you continuously purchase!

Its getting out of hand Smithy. The internet and email are the worst things ever invented !!! I have a number of UK wine brokers who take advantage of my ill-discpline and send me customised emails, with pricing that is very persuasive.... Buying wine 'in bond' (pay VAT and duty when you take them out of storage) makes them seem so cheap, and takes the storage hassle away. That said, I'm not sure how I'll ever get them all back to Oz, let alone the stuff in the US as well.

Thankfully, with the more expensive Champagnes and Bordeaux reds, there is a run of vintages coming up where I'm not too interested in buying anything.

Walked into a new bottle shop Sat afternoon to find a bottle of ´11 Rousseau Le Chambertin lying amongst a mixed case of burgs...

Not the sort of wine that is ever seen for sale - it sells out en primeur and is heavily allocated. Luckily I do know that the shop selling the wine is the actual importer into the Netherlands and a quick chat revealed the expected story: good client was getting divorced...Had to take it, and the Clos de Beze (but at least that is for a friend),

Could have had 5 other older vintages, but the prices for the rest were all above the 1000 euro mark..
