Mate, will do. Probably in the next couple of weeks as the wife is not drinking at the moment as we are expecting a little addition to the family. In regards to the 6 pack buy, with a baby on the way, trying to stock the cellar so that we have something to drink once the little one arrives!

Hopefully G.Ablett strains a hammy on Saturday ...

Never thought I'd buy Penfolds Grange again at current prices, but I just couldn't resist when a stray bottle of the 2008 vintage was amazingly discounted 50% off by one of the major grocers! Final damage - AUD $388.34.

You just never know what's out there sometimes - my thanks to crusty2 for the tip off.

I love this stuff. Wild yeast ferment. Unlike traditional semillon, I would not be looking to keep it long in fact I would probably drink 2 immediately and think of storing one

Nice work !

I wrote off the 2008 vintage reds in SA after the 16 day heat wave in March but I'm continually impressed by the sheer quality of some 08 wines. Mind you it there are some absolute shockers out there that were probably picked after this period. Coonawarra 08's are very impressive tending to reflect a warmer climate style. No under ripe fruit here!

I have had some fantastic 2008 SA Reds. Many of the wines that were picked before the heatwave or during the first week were quite exceptional. There was a lot of bad publicity about the vintage which forced big price reductions and wineries to use discount websites (also the grape glut I suppose). I've picked up many bargains and have had a really good run with the '08's and I've put many in the cellar as I think it is a bit of a sleeper vintage. Many disagree, but I can only go on what I have tasted and what I like.
