I tried the new releases last week. Th reisling was excellent, very much in the class of Jacobs Creek Steingarten. The reds were mixed. I don't know much re the recent vintages, but i'm not sure the 07 is as good as the 08.
I started with the Bin 28, not bad, not sure i'd buy this. The Bin 128 however was far superior. Got a half dozen to put away. A very good wine.
Then tried the BIN 407 (2007), this was a disapointment, quite significant tannins and limited fruit. I'm not sure this will go the distance. It certainly is no comparison to previous vintages. I was a fan of the 407 2003 vintage, albeit this got a big dumping of the 707 mixed in which ended up not being released. I thought the 2004 was good too. Not so the 2007. Give it a miss for the price.
The 2007 389 was just barely drinkable, what is this? the tannins are atomic, but the fruit is overwhelmed, poor balance, will it improve? I'm not so confident at this price. Others tasting this tasting this thought it will improve over time, possibly 8 years minimum?? I may wait till the 2008 vintage based on the quality of the Bin 128. Cheers Simo
