I am interested to know where you got the 2007 port from. So far I have heard nothing of it coming into town.

I would have thought this was a gutsy call. I will be interested to read how it turns out. I assume you intend to drink it rather than keep for some other non-consumption reason.

Just dipping the toe, so to speak, in the tempranillo pond. I've enjoyed Blue Poles, Tahbilk a bit less, so waited for another round of Jacobs Creek discounting and grabbed a bottle of the JC 08 ($6.85) today to try an entry-level-priced example of the variety.

Went to a chain store and tasted some 2004 penfolds 389 (must buy some more) and it was real good. But what took me by supprise was some
Chateau Reynella 16yo Rare Old Twany A nice little example of an aussie twany. Made from Grenache and Shiraz grapes. It's full of spice and nutty flavours. $9.90 each but if you buy a case it worked out at about $9.40. So I got myself a case. As Graham B said it is a great stocking stuffer but I like it so much I'm keeping them all for myself

Nice wine with classic Clare palatate of Lime and lemon with lovely mineral acidity. It is a steal at the right price.

2xHenley Hill Chardonnay 06
2xFormby & Adams Leading Horse Cabernet 06
I really need to stop being sucked in by telemarketers, the only one of the above that Halliday rates is the Shingleback.

I'm in the US where the 07 ports are available on futures. It looks to be a very good vintage year, so be on the lookout for them. The Lake's Folly was going to be a lark to drink soon...good wine that was likely to be past its prime. I've had good luck over the years with many types of wines that weren't supposed to be age worthy...chardonnays and zinfandels come immediately to mind. Lake's Folly has a good rep of being a long-lived wine, so why not gamble a little? Alas, I got a note from the seller right after I posted that they couldn't find the bottle.

6 x 2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine de la Janasse
6 x 2007 Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel, Dr Loosen, Mosel
6 x Henschke Mt Edelstone 2006- which I was supposed to get a GST & WET refund on at the airport but the line too long.
Does anyone have any idea or reference of the longevity of the Loosen? I bought as a birth year wine.

Jamie,
Regarding the longevity of the 2007 Auslese, you can be assured that with a reputable producer like Loosen you will get the maximum milage. Auslesen wines can last for decades depending of couse on the vintage. In March this year we opened a bottle of 1971 auslese that was excellent, in the mature aged riesling fashion.
One thing about these German rieslings, they drink beatifully right away and all through lives with no real "dumb" phase.
Cheers....................Mahmoud.

Pizzler, thanks for that. I didn't think I had seen any of the 07 port come up locally. What part of the US, Connecticut?
