Very important: The New Australia
Daryl,
Good on you for at least having the guts to admit that your initial post in this thread deserved to be panned. I've done my fair share of 'cheeky' posting on a few boards over the years, and, unfortunately, "tongue in cheek" just doesn't go down well with a lot of people. It's just too easy to relay the wrong impression when the written word is mostly taken as 'literal'.
Perhaps you should rethink your late night posting schedule?

Its good to see everyone so passionate about the subject in question full stop I reckon. Obviously many people do care, some like myself, are perhaps a little less informed and posted too quickly and without due thought given to possible misinterpretation. But that's often a problem with internet discussion. Emoticons help establish some context but problems can and will arise. Still, great to see people willing to clarify, correct or apologise and accept such responses...and mostly it ends with levity that way.
As for me, I should have just commented that I had only seen news of Jefford's visit in Grape Growers and Vignerons and left it at that. So sorry I got it wrong too. Anything that can help Oz wine is good by me.
Good luck with Thursday night DaveB, hope it goes really well.

Self Publicity?
This post has made it on to Daily Wine News, then as an article in; the Age;
http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/spare- ... -avbd.html
I just wanted to ask Tom Munro, did Andrew Jefford know that these comments would be sent around? Admittedly he did write this on his blog, so he must have known it could be read.
I have written to Andrew inviting him for a tasting of interesting booze, it will be interesting if he really does want more samples and more contacts.

I don't think it references little old Auswine anywhere. I think it went directly from his blog to winebiz and then to the newspaper.
cheers

Bartenders are supposed to have people skills. Or was it people are supposed to have bartending skills?

I checked the Daily Wine News release and it says it is written by Tom Munro as a byline, and the wording is the same as the Auswine post.
Did Tom send it as a press release?

Good question
When I think about it, it is kind of weird having wineries asking other wineries to send samples to a wine writer. Very post-modern
cheers
