Redwine, how are you sourcing these gems? Auction? If so which one? Langtons?

Will these be consumed soon?

Would love to hear how the 76 Lafite and DRC are going.

Most of them I bought through auction platforms like Ebay, I also always look for good stuff at retailers. Most likely I will try the DRC Richebourg in the next few months with a few friends who are also interested in good wines. I will let you know then what the experience was. I recently opened a Mommessin Gevrey Chambertin 1969 and the Jayer Vosne Romanee 1985. They were both brilliant wines with the Mommessin even being a touch better. It was wonderful after we have opened the bottle but it became better and better. After about two hours it was showing all the good things you would want in a wine - a lot of nice flavours, smooth, silky but still a lot of power despite its age. So I hope the DRC will even be more smashing.

The more I try this old stuff, the more crazy I get about it.

Just be glad you don't like that foreign muck. 08 Bordeaux is tempting and it is VERY hard to resist. Glad that Rebecca helps keep the 'wine expenses' semi-reasonable.

EDIT: I just remembered that 1997 Mount Mary Quintet you brought to Bowral. Was a stunning match to that lavender smoked quail! If the 06 is better than the 97 I think you will be happy in future

I think today i will buy a bottle of 1999 Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz. I have been reading a few reviews about it and it sounds very good.

Yeah, there's no doubt they are nice wines. No probs in that area at all. I've not bought the last couple of vintages though as the mailer has just come at a bad time of the year and it's quite a commitment. The 06 is sort of a memorial wine to John Middleton though so I couldn't resist this time and due to the droughts they've delayed the mailout which used to be in November. The format of the mailer has changed considerably since he passed. No more ramblings on the state of the economy and the wine industry! It's all a lot more 'professional' now.

I've seen the bordeaux offerings but am managing to resist - only just. I wouldn't mind a mixed case but it will just have to wait, I'm afraid.
