The La Testa shiraz came in an unmistakabe very thick bulky botlle and was 15%. I doubt there is any left as I cleaned them out of their last bottles as winemaker, Andrew Braithwaite, left for Italy about 6 months ago. That was the end of Classic McLaren. Great wines lacking good marketing. The '02 La Testa Cabernet is stunning. My cellar is awash with it. The '02 Shiraz is pretty good too.orpheus wrote: Goodwood (?) Cellars (in Adelaide) cleanskin shiraz 2001
This is reputed to be the "la testa" shiraz. It may be the classic mclaren vale estate shiraz, ie, the label down.
Drinking very well, vanilla and violet nose, again with good, grippy tannins, and good, full mouth feel, lovely liquorice finish, and right in the middle of its drinking window.
Goodwood Cellars and its sister pubs in Adelaide were selling many of the wines as cleanskins.
Winery was sold to Sparky and Sarah Marquis who now produce high octane Mollydooker wines. Terrible thing to do with such good fruit. Noticed some of them now selling for a song via Get Wines Direct. Shirax at 16%. Looks like RJP wines are on the nose at last. Excuse the pun.
