I sometimes wonder whether new comers to the forum see all the user names, including the weird and wonderful and think that the forum needs that, or requires it.
That is, to join in you need a weird user name.
This is not the case of course.
As is well known, I would greatly prefer you all to use your real names!
There are some who like the anonymity I suppose, but old members, and new, please seriously consider using your real names! There are so many reasons why it is better for us all.

Well the name ufo is a nickname derived from my original first name and also that's how my wife calls me. It is not Unidentified Flying Object eventhough it is also on my turbo charged car's license plate. I won't tell you what my original name is because it doesn't go well in an English speaking environment. Because of that I had to pick up a better suited english name in Australia.

You see now I really really want to know
My screenname is obviously just shameless self promotion...

My name is fairly obvious, easier to understand than an amalgamation of Tasmania and Otago. However, I would not have a clue how to put an avatar on.

Well, back in the wee early days of the interweb, I joined a Xena Warrior Princess forum, as you do. First forum I joined and one of the very early ones. Even before this one. Everyone there had handles (as they used to be called - and still are really). I was also just getting into wine in a slighly serious way.
Anyhoo, there was an episode of Xena called The Bacchae where the bacchae who worship Bacchus attack Gabriel and turn her into a bacchae. For the purposes of this show it was all quite vampirish. When Xena comes to her rescue, all the bacchae are partying like it's 1999 (except it was before that) and they seem to be having quite a trancey dance party. Of course, the party was all girls except for Bacchus and the whole thing was quite lesbian oriented. Xena got her little friend, Gabrielle back by being bitten by Gabriel and then killing Bacchus, from memory, in quite a homo-erotic scene - the bite, not the kill.
Anyway, it all worked for me. Worshiping Bacchus, the trancey party, all the girls, everything really so I became bacchaebabe.
It's been my handle (and email) since then on all forums and seemed to suit this one as much, if not more, than the old Xena one.
Re the avatar, I'm rather fond of Portuguese port as well as the old deco era advertising posters like this so when I found one with two girls on it, again, it just seemed to suit. My avatar on the other forum is actually an image of Gabrielle biting into Xena but I don't post there very often so I doubt many of you have seen it.
Personally, I quite like people using handles as I think it gives a little insight into personalities but I also think it's a good idea to have at least your first name in your signature. Makes it a bit easier at offlines!

Just my initials but it kind of works cause I am pretty much a red bigot as well
Avatar is Vince from Rex the Runt which I thought was a very funny cartoon, no deep meaning there.

Well, I, at least, took note of your preference for real names Gav when I joined the forum.
