Sorry to hear that John - looks like we're down to 12 now.
If any of the other regulars (Gavin, Shadrach, Glen, Nick, Jordan) or newbies (Wayno, etc) are interested in going now's the time to speak up.
The theme thing seems to have gone by the wayside too - maybe we should just give a rough description of what were taking (new white, old red, etc) and just bag them up for an options night this time around.
Cheers,
Ian

I think we should stick with pre-2000 as the theme.
I picked up a 1999 John Riddoch magnum at Wynns yesterday which I will be bringing. Will probably bring a 2007 Neagles Rock Riesling too as a non-theme bonus.
We need to get our numbers up to 20 to fulfil the booking requirement, or maybe I can call them and have us downstairs if we have less?
Cheers

If there's to be a pre-2000 theme I suggest that also the whites should be pre-2000. It would make it more interesting.

I think having a plan B is important as I doubt we'll reach 20 (btw, has there ever been an offline exceeding 20 people?).

ok well I think I will have to let them know by tomorrow so they don't get mad and say we can't do it!

I think there's little chance of getting 20+ people to this one - we're better off moving downstairs and taking our chances with the 15 person limit.
Cheers,
Ian

Have changed the booking to downstairs.
Possibly this means no belly dancer on your lap Ian. I'm sure Gustav will give it a go instead

No offence Gustav, but no thanks. Now if Maria or Wine Girl were in town, or we head down the road to the "Insane Donkey" afterwards...

Sarah, you've taken belly dancing to lap dancing - I'm curious to what your next suggestion will be. And since your organising this one (and leaving at 10) I vote for you to supply the artistic entertainment

I'm still keen but I've got some golf tournament that I don't expect to leave until around 6:30 - so I'll try to scheme a lift straight from the course. I don't think I'll be late but i might smell funny

I've enjoyed thinking about what sort of wines would match the tasty spicy Jerusleum food. Not sure what everyone prefers re themes so I have tentatively gone for reds one bottle just over the 2000 date and one just under that I think will complement the food.
Was there talk of a possible options exercise? A friend reminded me of the standard plastic "glasses" at the Jerusleum which means I've got to remember the good glasses.
Looking forward to seeing everyone regards chris

Sorry to hear you won't break your offline cherry with this one Wayno - I hope you recover from the operation very soon, because the next one isn't far away and I'm sure you won't want to miss it.
I'm still deciding what to bring along with the glasses (apparently theirs are crap, so this time it really is a must folks) - as long as there's over ten people it will probably be a magnum, and something red with age.
What sort of foods/styles can we expect expect with this banquet? If there was a creamy style of dish I was toying with the idea of an additional white, but I'm not sure if there will be a dish to match it.
Cheers,
Ian

Glasses are a must as they only have plastic tumblers!!
Food-wise, (from memory) there's hommous, tabouleh, a cauliflower fried thing of deliciousness, fallafel (bloody awesome), kofta meatball type things with a bit of a creamy sauce but quite spicy at the same time, and some marinated lamb kebab things (not so spicy), and a roast chicken dish (spicy but not hot or creamy).
Hope that helps with the choices!

At this stage with the numbers down to ten I'll save the magnum for another time and take masked bottles of red and white that fit the themes mentioned (and hopefully go well with the food, etc).
Cheers,

I had a '98 Dead Arm a couple of weeks back and it's still a massive wine. I'd recommend double decanting it immediatly when you get there..
Have a great night guys. I hope to join you one of these days when I can have a child-free night!!!

I'm very sorry, but we also have to bail. I've been hit by food poisoning and have had an awful day. Just the thought of eating or drinking makes me nauseous. Seems like this offline is kind of cursed. Hope you guys remaining have a fantastic time!
