Hi Chris - welcome to the forum.

I'll see if my +1 definitely wants to go. If they bail out you can have their spot, otherwise I'll have to see if Lagare Lout & Shadrach are definite starters - watch this space.

As I recall it, the friendly folk from East End Cellars were at an adjacent table and had more wine than they knew what to do with!

On top of the 1990 BP, I also have very fond memories of a 1983 Lindemands Bin 6600 that found its way from their table to ours.

If there are any East End Cellars staff reading this, many thanks for your contribution to the last off-line and please feel free to informally participate any time you like...

Ian, how are the numbers going? I know someone else who is interested in attending if the space is there.

I was visiting another table with Rolf Binder and Adois Kracher et al at it.

We were playing options (I remeber rather hazily), and I took a couple of interesting bottles over with me.

Late on Rolf brouight over the 90 BP to our table and we poured a bit about, I think that's how it worked.

Sorry Mark, at the moment there's no space unless people drop out in the next week and a bit. Even then it will be a very tight squeeze.

This has got to be the first time I can remember having to limit the number of people going to a local offline.

My 1986 Grange and I are now a non starter but I'm prepared to auction my spot (not the wine) to the highest bidder!

Seriously though, I'm sure someone will gladly grab my spot.

I've just learnt that my work commitments will prevent me attending too.

I had to draw the line somewhere, and I thought 15-17 drinkers were enough (as opposed to 15-17 drinkers and 5-3 non-drinking partners). There was already the chance someone could miss out on trying the WOTN if someone else had a shaky hand or went back for a second helping; with 20 or more drinkers I guarantee more than one would miss out, and if 707 was bringing his 1986 Grange that's asking for trouble.

As I expected a couple have dropped out, and possibly more later on to make room anyway - it looks like you've got space for your +1 Mark, plus I've got a couple of reserves still waiting in the wings.

I heard a couple of days ago vintage has already started in the Barossa, so I don't know if this will stuff up David & Pam, and for that matter Nayan & Lagare Lout if by chance Clare & McLaren Vale start up too.

Great to hear you and Pam are still coming - Steve did say bring something local, and I'm sure there would be no complaints if one of yours snuck in.

The booking is confirmed (two tables for 15-17), so yes it's time we started talking about what we're taking. The basic necessity is at least one top quality wine per person - this isn't an exercise in trumpet blowing, so it doesn't have to be Grange or a First Growth (although if anyone wants to share they're very welcome), just something that's real quality and/or very interesting. If in doubt look at the previous offlines to get an idea.

If possible, bottles you're bringing should be opened and checked in advance to make sure they're not corked/oxidised. Also BYO tasting glasses - if anyone can't bring them mention it early so we can try to arrange something.

I'm waiting on seeing who's definitely going - there's a 1978 Malartic Lagraviere magnum I was going to try with Nayan, and a 1982 Noble One with markg.

Fairly certain I'll get there but just sorting out a few things first.

I'll be bringing a 1998 McLaren Vale Shiraz that was US export only and maybe a current release high quality Zin or Grenache.

I'm taking a 98 cabernet merlot, and something else I'm yet to decide upon/pull from the cellar/buy/steal/etc.

How are we going to find one another? Last time I only found everyone because I happened to walk in to the restaurant and recognized Gavin, who had also just walked in...

Ian I'm going to have to pull out. Hopefully (for my sake) we can hold another night sooner rather than later. I'll try to call in and say hello (with a bottle, naturally ) on the night, but I won't be able to stay for a meal.

You start this whole crazy thing then bugger off across the road to some insignificant event like a 30th at the downmarket Hyatt.

Crusty, I really didn't need yet another night on the booze and was only coming along because YOU were going to be there.

Reckon the wines at the Hyatt will be pedestrian compared to out soiree at T-Chow anyhow so I hope for you the people are more attractive than our lot!!
