Hi GW,

As someone else said in a previous post, much of the debate about closures is opinion rather than fact and whilst I am not having a go at you mate, what makes you say that "Alan is a bit out of control".

Most of what I have seen looks like his opinion is based more on "science" than many other opinions - but then my science is about as good as my spelling.

I have a 6-pack of 2001 Cullen under screwcap and another 6-pack under cork. I will tell you my thoughts about the cork versus screwcap debate in another 5 years... and I will regard this as fact as all you "experts" out there can't seem to decide!

With regard to DIAM and I would love DIAM to be the big solution, but the big concern I have is whether the elastic properties of DIAM will hold for 20+ years like a good cork, given that there is obviously some processing involved in making a DIAM closure. Feeling the DIAM closures is similar to a plastic cork, which I understand only keep their elastic properties for a few years. Can anyone address my “elastic” fears? Smithy?

That's a very good point Adair....the most I can get out of the elastic in my Rio's is 3 years, four tops. How will a cork make it twenty?
