I must concede I am more a barossa man, but hey lets go with Mclaren Value shiraz. I am happy to provide a 2001 Kays Block 6 and will bring 1998 Reynell Shiraz as a back up
I will also bring a 83 Reynell VP for after dinner.
Wife is a question mark but will know by the end of the week.
Brett
My backup is a Kays Hillside 2001 so we might try both side by side.

I'll be bringing a bottle of Paxton Shiraz 2001, along with the bubbles. Nobody's going home sober, that's for sure

Sounds great
I'll bring a 97 Rosemount Balmoral Syrah and some Noble Ones for later, probably 96.
See you there. To those who can not come, we will raise a glass to you, then a second and third

Beef,
Two questions.
What time and do you need a hand ?
Great to see this idea come to fruition.

Hi all
Just confirming my attendance this Friday. The set menu is fine by me (I can't imagine with all that fine McLaren Shiraz flying around that anyone will order anything other than an eye fillet anyway!).
What time? I assume that the table will be booked under Brisbane Tasting Club?
I will bring a bottle of the Foggo Road 'Black Myriah' Sparkling Shiraz, and maybe a bottle of Marius Shiraz as well (if my order arrives in time).
Tastebuds are getting excited already.

Definitely coming on Friday night – I am looking forward to it. My wife will probably attend events later in the year but at the moment we need to find a baby sitter – our parents do too much as it is.
When I checked my small wine fridge on the weekend to find what to take it became apparent that it had not been working for some time. 50% of the red wine was leaking and the white were mostly not white anymore. My KayÂ’s Hillside and Ironstone Pressings were cactus.
Thankfully my magnums were kept separately so I will bring a 2002 Laughing Magpie magnum with something else for a backup.
The wine fridge was a Mistral and had not been opened since we moved house 5 months ago – the temperature inside would have been at least 40c and the smell was terrible.
It starting working again when I swithed it on and off so I will have to follow up with the makers regarding the warranty. When I originally plugged it in it was working.
I will check with my insurance too.

Sorry about my tardiness in confirming the details for this Friday's booze-up. I've been incredibly pre-occupied of late.
But here they are. The list of attendees is as follows:
Brett
Kilgore Trout
chillwrx
peterk
graham and Mrs graham
myself
Corey and Nia (offline friends of mine)
Rudy
Trevor and Bec
My wife might come also, but she's pregnant and won't be participating in the acoholic side of the evening. So, that's 12 people drinking wine. Which doesn't allow each person a huge amount from a given bottle. Which sucks. As a result, we may decide to consume some of the bottles across half the table only.
Booking is under the name of The Brisbane Wine Club, and is for 7:00pm this Friday.
I've told them to have the glassware ready, and that we'll be there for a while
Set menu as planned, however I'll ask them so substitute a lamb-shanks dish for the fish. Any objections?
And that's about it. Could everyone post what they're bringing, so that we make sure to have enough bubbles and complimentary offerings of the rest (duplicates would be great, because of numbers)?
Thanks all. Can't wait to meet everyone on Friday.

Sounds absolutely marvellous. I'm so disappointed that I'm going to Sydney and will miss the inaugural dinner.
But I'm keen for the next one.
Cheers

P.S Horrified to hear about the fridge failure. Has to be the ultimate nightmare! Hope the insurance comes to the party.

I'll bring a Sparkling Red plus a 2003 Mitolo Serpico Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wines get better every time I look.
I'll bring:
97 Balmoral Syrah
99 Balmoral Syrah
97 Noble One
98 Noble One
I just hope we don't do a vintage night as my wines only start at 96.

Can everyone keep the McLaren Vale Shiraz theme in mind? I notice some people planning to bring Cab Savs, or non-McLaren Vale wines. That's fine I guess, if you can't source the appropriate wines, but it would be really good to stick to the theme. Makes for a more enjoyable night of comparisons.
Bubbles and Stickies can come from wherever you like.
Thanks,
Stuart

On the topic of glassware, Timmy's don't have enought dedicated port glasses. Is everyone OK to drink stickies from regular wine glasses (this is how I usually drink them, so doesn't bother me)?

No probs with the glasses. By the time the port is ready I am usually tired.
Is it ok if I bring a fellow wine friend?
It seems to be growing but..

My wife would like to attend, no drinking planned. Is that ok?
Wines still as per original post, picked them up from storage yesterday
2001 Kays Block 6, 1998 Reynell Shiraz and a 83 Reynell VP for after dinner.

OK, I've added Mrs Brett and peterk's friend to the booking. Brett, my wife is coming also, and won't be participating either, so they'll both have someone sober to talk to

Is it casual dress tonight or formal?
I am bringing the Laughing Magpie Magnum 2002 and a Wirra Wirra VP from 2001.
Anything else I need to know?

Casual dress, my good sir. I believe someone else is bringing a 2003 Laughing Magpie. Will make for a nice comparison.
Nothing else that I can think of.
Looking forward to meeting everyone tonight.
