And a number of them are not progressing as well as expected! The vintage is nowhere near as great as forecast and there there will be many dissapointments, but there will be some great wines too.

The difference is that was 98 was called by many pundits as the vinatge of the centuary (clearly it is not) and a much higher (than normal) rate of wines have not developed as well as people would have origionaly predicted.
I've gone thru numerous of '98 from top to the bottom. Great upon released. Half of them holding, the rest losing steam
Pity those wankers who invested big time.

Which 98s don't foumites think are going anywhere?
A few that come to mind:-
Nine Popes
Fox Creek Reserve Shiraz
Gartner Cab
Tintara Shiraz
Mitchelton Print (possibly)
Lehmann Eight Songs
Mountain Blue
Saltram No 1
Shottesbrooke Eliza
Tollana 222
Veritas Hanisch
Why include Mitchelton Print? Mine are drinking beautifully and imho taste as if they have years ahead of them. Earlier vintages are also drinking well and I don't think they changed their approach in 98?

Agree, 98 Print is a very good drink. 93 Print is still drinking very well.
IMO, based on the last bottle of 98 Print I recently tried, it will best be drunk over the next 3 years. Its OK, it just won't last as long as many previous vintages.

you wasted your money on all those wines ?
or have you sold them all at auction and now talking the vintage down
most of my '98s have delivered as expected so far, you must keep your expectations down in this game, never listen to the hype, and I always taste before I buy

"all those wines" - probably a pretty small proportion of TORB's purchases.
I never make any buying mistakes when I'm anonymous either...
