Just slightly off topic does anyone know what RWT sells for when released?

2001 RWT could/can be had for about $110 - $130, no idea for the 2002.

JO's scores. Nothing here to suggest this is a vintage of the calibre of 90 or 91 (or 94, 96, 98 or 99 for that matter), no matter which way you turn it around.

16.0 d'Arenberg Footbolt? ("finishing rather stale and cooked.")
17.0 Leasingham Bin 61?
15.9 Grant Burge Filsell?
17.6 Kilikanoon Oracle?
17.7 Henschke Mt Edelstone?
18.2 d'Arenberg Dead Arm?
18.0 Torbreck Struie?
15.8 St Hallett Faith?
17.9 St Hallett Blackwell?
17.0 Kaesler Old Bastard?
17.1 (Bishop) Glaetzer
16.5 Penfolds RWT? (Worst ever)

Some pretty average scores there ... and from my own more limited tasting, I'd have to agree. Haven't had 2001 Dead Arm but did think 2000 D.A. was a pretty good effort from the vintage, so it's not surprising it's done reasonably well in 2001.

Fatboy,

I'll take RB's advice and make this my final post on this thread which has ventured off topic drastically. First of all, I don't understand your final sentence on your last post - could you explain for me please?

I also think it's unfair to quote one reviewer's scores, with no comparison from previous vintages available (which would serve as a control based on the vastly differing price brackets) and no comparison to scores from other reviewers. JH gave the '01 Mt Edelstone 18.2, the '01 Footbolt 18.4 and the '01 Filsell 18.0 on the same scale. These were the first three I found and certainly differ a lot to JO's ratings.

I think we'll agree to disagree on this topic. For the record, of the wines I've mentioned many (the lower scoring JO wines) are designed for drinking younger, and having only been in my early teens in the early 90's, I can't comment on the drinkability of similar wines within five years of release.

About Penfolds apparent return to form with the 02 reds.I think you'll find its a resullt of freeing from the influence of Rosemount and Phillip Shaw and getting back to making Penfolds reds the way they have pre the Rosemount fiasco.
Also Upper Adelaide refers to the vineyards around One Tree Hill in the hills behind Elizabeth in Adelaide's northern suburbs.
