Bought 6 bottles of a Chardonnay from the Yarra called Restif. Never heard of them before, but the offer was for 2 bottles each of the 06, 07 and 08. Hard to find aged wines like this direct from the cellar, and it was worth a punt.

Also 6 bottles of ‘19 Expresss Winemakers Riesling. Not really a fan of the Auz version, but this has been aged a bit under flor and it should be a bit different.

The '16 is a good vintage, apparently a step up on the '15 in terms of tannin and structure. In a good vintage the "lower tier" wines can be a very smart buy. A liquor chain in my town had a special on Fontanafredda's normal so I called to ask what vintage they were selling. I thought they said 2016 but when I got there it turned out to be the 2015. As it was also a good vintage, and one that apparently can be enjoyed earlier, I bought some, and at C$22 it was what is called "a no-brainer".

Thanks Mahmoud. I know very little about Barolo but I was advised good vintage and it's a good producer so figured I'd just buy and forget for a decade or so!
