I think I have enough wine to see out this virus thing. Thank god I stocked good and hard early. Think I have 10 years supply.
Sorry just a bit of levity in all this doom and gloom.

Thanks Cactus. I firmly believe if we can't maintain our humour we might a well all die anyway. As I say to my friends, I have been panic-buying wine for over a decade so test negative and come round.
Cheers

Have half a dozen, could pull the trigger for another 6

but will probably buy a couple of cases of the Bowen '18s instead.

Not buying any wine for a while now (not that I'd bought much recently). Definitely in the non-essential category, and we're in a form of lockdown now. We have enough wine to last

I'm leaning toward not buying though I am concerned if everyone sits on their money the economy will weaken toward uncharted waters.
I'm pushing my wine tasting group to buy if retail opportunities present favourably. Over stock our cellar.
Personally, I'm in two minds. The tanking $AUD has made analysis of any international purchases unfavourable- large currency swings present interesting scenarios. So I'm sitting on my hands and drinking what I didn't want to drink too early from my HKG wine fridges.
I went through 9/11 and the Ansett crash so I've prepared for everything but global & limited nuclear war- which this pandemic seems to be replicating.

Like you Ian I'm quiet. But there are some testing offers coming up, Standish, Marius anw Wendouree in the next few months. If the companies mentioned in my signature below get up it will be a different story! Especially RAP

Not that this is a shares or financial forum, but up 25% Hacker...might be worth a punt. I don't have a lot of cash, but as perhaps as immoral as the current situation is, there is a good opportunity to make a lot of coin, particularly if you consider how volatile things are. My super has like many others, been absolutely smashed, so perhaps other options need to come into play
On the wine front, will certainly be purchasing the three wines you mentioned, especially Marius as I was part of the 2018 harvest picking team. I didn't buy any '17 Standish but will stretch to a mix dozen of the 18s. Wendouree is a no brainer.
Cheers Craig

I don't think I've ever seen so many wine offer offers hit my my inbox, from both wineries and online retailers, over the past few days. Quite a few good deals going around.

True Ozzie, about 5-6 today and emails from various regional associations, with the move to CDs taking on a bottle shop approach.
20% seems to be the going rate for many +/- free freight, next few months might bring a bit more.
Just cancelled a planned trip to Barossa, hope Coonawarra/Victoria later in the year still holds up.
Cheers Craig

purchased off auction last night, first time in a while. Too good to resist, 2009 Chateau Nairac, absolutely hit it out of the Sauternes park that vintage, stunning wine. Picked me up some halves and fulls for next to nothing.

Same, and my Brisbane mates are seeing it too. Separate post coming on one particular one.

Found a trade wholesaler who is (obviously) going to struggle in this climate and who is now selling to the public to try to keep afloat. So I grabbed:
12 x
2014 Allessia Grace Reserve Cab Sauv
- lots of fruit and a suitable tannin base for 10+ years (although I don't think it's going to outlast self-isolation)
12 x
2018 Cape Vine Merlot
- one of those massive fruit bursts that keeps on giving. Very long tail - was still enjoying it half an hour later... I don't reckon it'll age well as I plan on making this one go quickly

6 x
2016 100 Hunts Fiano
6 x
2015 John Luke Chardonnay
- middling chardy with some nice flavours and balance. Not the best or worst - great with eggplant parmigiana
12 x
2015 John Luke Pinot Gris
Not bad for $360...

Dromana, for restaurants they were Trade Wine Solutions. When I saw them on Saturday they were hopeful that they could break even and survive the shutdown - based on the response from the local community thus far. I've got a couple of friends who are stuck in their homes - so I've got another 9 cases to take up to them on Saturday.

I did the 88 pilots strike as ground staff for Australian. Sorry, personal question so ignore if required.
Are you still flying? If not, are you still being paid?
