Ruggeri Corsini is much improved according to comments elsewhere. Enjoyed an early release recently.

All the talk about Domenico Clerico, I thought I would try a couple more.

Interested in your take on the two non Piemontese wines when you get round to drinking them.

I had a very lucky start with Chianti a few years ago, with a mature parcel from auction for a good price, including 1990 Selvapiana Chianti Rufina Bucerchiale, 1999 Fèlsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia, 1988 & 1993 Isole e Olena Cepparello (IGT when 100% Sangiovese wasn't allowed), 1998 Monte Bernardi Chianti Classico Paris (a good but more modern styled wine and a huge ego/ambition for the winery, that was never quite realised)

4 different labels, but all winners. I've since bought more of the Rancia and Bucerchiale, both relatively sanely priced. I did buy a bottle of the 2013 Fèlsina Riserva, but CT suggests it's a little tight still, but progressing well.

I've just got a bottle of the 2011 Vorberg Riserva in the cellar, which might get opened in the not too distant future. Minerality seems to be a recurring theme in TNs, and that's not always a good thing for me, but should be fine at the dinner table.

Didn’t know anything about the Chianti, just taking a punt at I0% off and just under EU20.
I have been meaning to try one of the Terlano Pinot Bianco’s for ages, looking forward to it.
Both will be for drinking now to try, so I will post the notes.

Yes pre-arrival.

Tasted the 2015 Ruggeri Corsini Barolos at the winery in Nov, the Bussia has a bit of smaller barrel action, however the others are very traditional. All wines were of a very high standard and priced toward the lower end of the spectrum. A strong buy recommendation from me for 2015 and 2016, but be wary of the Bussia if you are oak-averse.

Felsina rates well vfm. Staple for us.

I used to get a few of this in the vintage version to lay down for a few years. But I hadn't done this for a while (2006?) and I think the 2014 was the last one. I figure it might be like the Silverband, which aged beautifully under a crown seal, but I guess it'll be a few years before I find out for sure.

I drank a few bottles of the last vintage-dated Seppelt Original the last time I was in Sydney. I can't remember if it was '14 or '15 but sure wish my last bottle was here in Canada rather than in Sydney.

On the buying in January note, in the waning days of the month, I came across some generic, retail branded Amarone called Podere Sinesa, a made up name with an ornate label, and bottled by an unknown company in Verona. It was being cleared out for C$15, so whatever the quality, it was a no-brainer at the price.

Second visit to RieslingFreak. Fantastic space along with a nice long relaxed tasting.
Once again Tscharke VFM is off the charts.
Would've liked a bit more of the aforementioned vino but my esky was packed to the hilt.

For starters his setup is extemely clinical.
There's nothing out of place, ok he was reno'ing at the time, but you can you can see there's very high element of precision and order.
Secondly, the cork he uses/sources from portugal is the best of the best of the best....and then checked again!
It sounds like top level cork is much better than top level cork 20/30 years ago. Either way, he trusts it to do the job.

He did have a lot to say regards screw cap and brought up a lot of science to back up his views.
It was really interesting and got my attention.
But I'm not going to speak for the guy on that touchy subject on here.
You're better off going and speaking to him yourself off the record over a tasting.

I know you're a million miles away Mahmoud but mate I think you're due to update your SA wines database.....
