My lot arrived in Wagga Wagga today. Full hit on the CC, so that will mean that we got everything - 6 each of the Shiraz and Pressings, and a mix of the rest.

WF gave the 2017 Cab Malbec 95 points for what it's worth and a few of the others some decent scores.
Even the 'Pressings' got 94 which is a new wine for me. No haven't I tried 2017 yet!!
Once again sound like cellaring power houses.
One of the few wineries I buy sans taste and look to reviews and scores to get an early read.
Ultimately time will tell but future looks solid for this vintage.
ON that I've heard so many differing views on 2017 vintage in SA from amazing to meh...
Having picked it personally in Mac Vale I know it was a bumper crop.
What that translates to I'm not sure.

My Marius order is arriving today (according to AusPost)...so perhaps a 17 Wendouree and a 17 Marius should be opened...suspect that in terms of a barometer for the vintage both will be right up there. Good honest no fuss wine making from quality fruit, year after year, at great prices.

Ddavew, could not believe the speed, Roger must have places to be, got the email, sent off the order the next day, CC hit that night and arrived this morning. I am in the Adelaide CBD. I must say, not that you can drink it, but the packaging is top shelf, the labels always look slick.

Yes need to have a breather, Wild Duck Creek yet to arrive, but there is 8+ dozen wines sitting in my office...famous last words, and Sam will chime in but I think there is just four purchases to go now for 2019 and I am done.

I've had my order form lost in the mail a few years in a row. I think somebody trying to tell me something? Must be time to break the bind soon with so much in the cellar and so much needing drinking. I must have over a thousand bottles.

Anyways, manual order taken again, though had to ring a few times. Missed out on the cabernet.

It's all a lot of fun but now with 36 more bottles of Wendouree, I have to drink 3 bottles a month to stay at the same quantity.

Me to Dave.

You know I've been ordering for 7 years now (not long compared to most here) and have only ever got the cabernet once.
If anyone wants to swap a bottle of cabernet with me please let me know.

Could swap for Rockford Black maybe.

Maybe I should have been clear on why I am not that fussed this vintage. I know they'll be great wines that will cellar well, it's just been a MASSIVE year for me from Mount Mary, Tyrrell's, Champagne and others. So I guess unlike other years if I miss out on some stuff I won't be as disappointed.

Still yet to be charged! Has anyone from QLD got their wines?

And just to rub salt into the wound, I see the same Adelaide CBD based retailer from last year flogging 6 packs of Wendouree...saying its limited and all that. Unlike last year when they fell for the 3 card trick and advertised a rather inflated price, this year its telephone orders only. I've half a mind to call them, but really, can't be bothered. Interestingly, no pressings offered (thanks Tony!!), so the price will go through the roof

Not sure but presume the wines have to be purchased in 6 bottle lots...may have been an option to pick up a Cabernet.

I worked it out and rang them.

They are selling mixed 6 packs of the reds for $600 and the pressings for $110 each.

They said they have put it in their newsletter and expect to sell out today.

Shit, so we have all just doubled our money...in retail land at least!! Sure pays to be on the mailer. guess its a brave buy at that price, but if folks want it badly enough...
That belongs in the egregious wine thread surely!!

Thanks for the tip, spose they have to pay for the shop expansions somehow

FWIW, my running theory is that Wendouree fill orders on a rotating state-by-state basis with a preference or priority to orders with straight case selections (to avoid making up mixed cases). Thoughts?

Diddy, I think you could be right it being state by state, however, fairly sure that 'black signature' orders are completed first, regardless of straight sixers or a mix across all wines. This might be state by state, then the rest of the orders are done.

Some years I have ordered 3 or 4 lots of six, balanced with a mix, or six Shiraz and licorice allsorts on the rest and it appears that the delivery each year is always quick. It also seems that 'perhaps' long-standing customers and being based in SA might be helpful. Anyway, who knows, but very happy to be on the list.

cheers craig.

Don’t the grape picker volunteers get paid in wine ? Perhaps they offload them at a profit and the Bradys don’t really care of small profits elsewhere ?

I called them up and they said they were giving preference to those who ordered smaller quantities rather than whole 6 packs. Especially with the Cabernet. I call BS on that.

Signature and black stripe gets theirs first and then always SA.

May not be wrong, however this would seem to be a departure from previous years' allocation preferences.

FYI - I've ordered in 6 packs across almost everything, form sent back over a month ago, have not been charged yet. Red crayon.

i dont think they have a system at all, lots of other black stripe still haven't got their credit card charge yet, not just sydney, i have a feeling that everytime they received a whole bag of mail, they just drop them on the floor and starts counting straight away, so doesnt matter how early or late you send it back or how much you order, your mail will be on the floor somewhere waiting to be open.
