Ahh in Italy actually. I've been all through Italy and France this last month and found an absolutely brilliant store that was willing to open the vast majority of bottles in the store for tasting by the glass.

for 38 Euro I sat down and had a glass of
Mascarello Monprivito 2013
Guigal Hermitage 2008
Passopisciaro C 2015

Honestly I would buy more to send home buy have run out of funds and I'm aware i'm taking a gamble by shipping home and it may be an expensive risk. They advise they ship as olive oil and don't usually encounter problems so we shall see. I'm heading back there in a week and will top up my order to make a full dozen (Not all of the wines listed above were purchased in Italy)

The 15 was brilliant, WineFront and others loved the 16, but still I hesitated when purchasing 4 bottles of the 2017 Tarrington Chardonnay. No doubt it’s a good wine, but the problem is of course the closure: cork. I don’t know where they source them from, but even the shop i bought the wine from new there were issues. Unforgivable nowadays. Let’s hope these are going to be worth the gamble.

IN a 3 x 4 tasting bracket of wines at tasting australia this was my No.1 pick.
Below was second followed by a 2017 Sami Odi Syrah.

Thanks Ozzie.

I hope your available for an offline in July or early August. The wife will be away so Con get’s to play.

I was planning to do a Wynns Black Label night but change of plans.

New plan is to do a Black Label V John Riddoch.
Starting with a few of older Black label’s 65, 68 and 72 then a number of vintages of BL and JR side by side, possibly 82, 86, 90, 91, 94, 96 and 98 with a centenary thrown in with the 91’s.

Hoping this 82 will be as good as the last one.

Cheers Con.

Wow some great pickups Con.

96 Craiglee would be interesting to see how its holding up, your last 82 JR was my WOTY last year. Never had an
old Moss Wood, so that 85 looks very interesting as well!

I hear you! I have over a dozen whites burning a hole in my cellar I want to bring to an offline one day,
not to mention some magnums I want to share. Just never seem to find the right date/time/availability.

Con,
So, you were bidding on the '82 JR, hope the price wasn't too outrageous in the end. I did get the magnum of Centenary as we discussed, all up including:

1 x 2006 Katnook Odyssey (magnum)
4 x 2004 Majella Cabernet
1 x 1982 Penfolds Bin 707
1 x 1990 Penfolds Bin90A
1 x 1954 Seppelt Great Western Sparkling Burgundy
1 x 1991 Wynns Centenary Shiraz Cabernet (magnum)
6 x Ch Tanunda Cabernet (a quaffer @ $7/b)

Was trying to get a '62 burg for the next MBSC night, but someone else wanted it more

Some good buying there Malcolm.

The 82 JR went for about the same as 1954 Seppelt, I also looked at this.

I’ll let you know when the Wynns night will be on.

Yes, I saw the price of the '82 JR. I hope it is a great and enjoyable bottle for you, no point in me saying I bought (not enough of) them for 12 bucks at release in 1985.

Still busy replacing volume with quality and have added a half case of 05 La Mission. Will it out live me ? Probably. Sure, I'd rather magnums of the '89, but I'm hoping that in 20 years time I will at least have a wine that on the same level.

On a more everyday front
- 5 bottles of '17 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Chardonnay
- 5 bottles of House of Arrays
- 8 bottles of '17 Penley Estate Phoenix (bought specifcally for my father visiting)
This is my church, this is where I heal my hurts.
