No argument that Conterno has far and away the greatest caché, even taking into account the usage by other Conternos in the Langhe. However in the region, Nervi has at times had a strong reputation, though recent years have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Compare that to the De Marchi (Isole e Olena) venture into Lessona, where the name is Proprietà Sperino and no mention of the family or the Tuscan estate.
More interesting for me is whether they can lift the excitement of these wines, and like other recent entrants in the region, lift the aspirations of other producers. Prices I'm sure will rise, but as long as they don't chase over-ripeness & slather the wines in new oak in the false pursuit of international appeal, then I'd be happy that the north of Piemonte could rediscover the prestige / market that's been lost over the last 3-4 generations.
