Not an essential purchase Matt  , only Rockford to go (but still haven't got up to the CD due to more fu*king root canal and the like...don't get old folks, however, lots to be said for those who have had a full clearance  )...
12 of the '13 Seppelts Salinger from a chain who is quitting them?? as a clearance item!!!, plus extra money off you are a member for $200 a dozen.
Tyson S's recent best $30 and under for this year...I will argue for $16 a 5 year old vintage it thrashes anything from Vic high country, Adelaide Hills or Tasmania. Was speaking to Adam Carmody (winemaker) at the recent TWE event...the wine spends several years on lees, gets a fair bit of love.
Its pure, crisp, clean and complex, if that makes sense...has that biscuit yeasty Bolly style...really refreshing and will age.

So that will be it for the year...unless one of the 5 or so emails that I am getting in the inbox each day has some sharp prices on 18 Clare or EV Rizzas
Cheers
Craig

Interesting that they've straight away changed the name from Nervi to Nervi-Conterno. No argument that Conterno has far and away the greatest caché, even taking into account the usage by other Conternos in the Langhe. However in the region, Nervi has at times had a strong reputation, though recent years have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Compare that to the De Marchi (Isole e Olena) venture into Lessona, where the name is Proprietà Sperino and no mention of the family or the Tuscan estate.

More interesting for me is whether they can lift the excitement of these wines, and like other recent entrants in the region, lift the aspirations of other producers. Prices I'm sure will rise, but as long as they don't chase over-ripeness & slather the wines in new oak in the false pursuit of international appeal, then I'd be happy that the north of Piemonte could rediscover the prestige / market that's been lost over the last 3-4 generations.

Ian
Hi Ian.

Thanks for you comments.

It's hard to get any information on how much input Conterno had on 14's and 15's apart from adding the name.
I know he purchased 90% of the winery in 2018 but not much before that, if any?

Cheers Con.

I will be in the same dilemma in a few months, maybe.
Gave up one allocation and kept another for the 2015's earlier this year.
Kinda hopping I don't get one for the 2016's.

Cheers Con.
