Hi Oz,
Interesting to see this price jump, hammer price of $230 is high. I wonder if this is due to the price jump in recent vintages? I paid $120 for the 2006 and it went up by 50% to $180 for the 2010. I of course complained about it and then ahead and bought it anyway.
All this makes me feel very happy with the impulse buy of a double magnum of this wine a few years ago for NZ$400. No idea when I will the occasion to drink a double magnum or when it will be mature, but I like looking at it in the cellar none the less!
Cheers Brodie

There were a number of these bottles at auction a couple of months ago.
I think everything half decent jumped by 50% for the 2010 vintage.
I got a few bottles from auction to last night.
1 X 2001 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva.
2 X 2007 Roagna Montefico Barbaresco.
1 X 2005 De Vogue Musigny.
2 X NV Morris Old Premium Liqueur Muscat.
1 X Basedow Old Show Tawny Port – Blend from 1928, 45, 62, 67 and 70.
Cheers Con.

With 15% buyers premium, the buyer paid $265 for that bottle. The 2009 vintage is still available retail for $203 with full recourse if something is wrong with the bottle. I'm tempted to buy one at that price.
I hope this isn't the beginning of a new trend for Italian wines. I'm already priced out of Grand Cru burgs. Maybe I should shut up about Mt Etna before everyone finds out at drives up the prices.

Too bloody many, after I vowed to stop buying wine. Amongst other things:

My first 2017 wine - 6 x Dukes Magpie Hill Riesling
A dozen 2016 Fraser Gallop Parterre Chardonnay
A dozen each of Old Kent River Pinot Noir 2014, Shiraz 2013, Sauv Blanc 2015
A dozen each of Larry Cherubino Ad Hoc Chardonnay and Lassae Faire Chardonnay 2015
6 x Sandalford Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
There's probably more.

3 x Pertaringa Rifle and Hunt 2015 McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon.
3 x Leconfield 2015 Coonawarra Merlot. An Australian version of this grape. Medium bodied as opposed to lighter
3 x Leconfield 2015 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. Good as usual.

Had my eye on this for a while and finally decided to push the buy button.
1 x 2004 Pol Roger Champagne Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill
I'd love to buy more, but for the same price as 1 bottle I can buy a whole case of Etna.

Nice purchase. I have a 99 Pol Roger Champagne Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill that I have been sitting on for a few years now - looking for the right moment. Any insights (or from anyone else) as to right drinking window?
Regards

1999 Champagnes are a weird bunch. Quite a few seem to have aged rapidly in the past few years. With the Pinot in the WC, I would be drinking this in the next 5 years.

I've had the 1999 and 2002 Churchill in the past year. Both were magnificent and showed no signs of falling over.

I'm some years away from opening any of my 2002s Ozzie. It's really good based on the bottles I've tried at the winery..... much, much better than anything since the 1996. The 2004 is a bit of a disappointment for mine....

Through the John Riddoch Club, orders placed two weeks ago, delivery this week.
I tried the wine in June...it is back to the older less alcoholic style, medium weight everything in balance, my wife who has a much better palate than me, as most women do, thought it was a beauty.
Will certainly be watching if there are any sharp prices about....to get more, not that I need it!
Cheers

6 x Wynns Black Label Cabernet 2015. Trying to keep a decent streak going and good wine to boot. Chains have it at a decent price, even if the winery itself doesn't. Struggle to fathom why wineries whose products are not hard to get/exclusive are so uncompetitive with the retailers they wholesale to. A bit insulting to the intelligence quotient really.

With respect George, i bought 12 BL for $23 each via Wynns buying plan direct. In general i agree with your comment but in this case i think cellar direct is the better deal.
