Chris H, what's the likely meal arrangement? Series of small plates?

Works best King. Gives food spread across the night. I'll do it when I get there and see what specials are available.

One of my favourite undertheradar brands. Oz :-)

Wow what a hard life we live....

2007 Keller Hubacker Riesling - rich and drinking beautifully. Tropical fruits and citrus.
2005 Domaine de Chevalier - open for business, lovely cassis and cedar and tannins not too assertive despite its relative youth.
2006 Beringer Private Reserve - youthful again but relatively soft and balanced. Oak on the finish but not distracting.
1995 Moss Wood - great vintage for Moss Wood and this bottle reflects it. Complex leafy cassis fruit beautifully balanced with quality oak.
1995 Wynns Black Label - smelly socks nunaces (presumably Brett) reduces fruit impact.
1996 Moss Wood - Should have been great but NQR.
2002 Cos D'Estournel - Soft tannic structure underpinning plum-cassis fruit. Elegant version of Cos. At the start of its drinking window.
2004 Houghton Jack Mann - excellent quality as you'd expect from this marque, but the fruit is still quite primary.
2000 Beychevelle - reflects the vintage with elegant ripeness of the fruit. Great balance and punching above its weight. Top drink.
1998 Katnook Odyssey - Still young. Powerful fruit and as usual, plenty of oak as well.
2001 Cullen Diana Madeline - sweaty characters detract - possibly Brett again.
1998 Penfolds Bin 389 - stands out as different - fruit more in the vinous spectrum and obvious American oak.
2003 Fraser Gallop - drinking nicely. No detail in my notes by this stage of the evening (unsurprising being the 13th wine !)
1976 Wynns Black Label - my WOTN amongst some great wines. The cork had done a great job of preservation and it was young for its age.
2005 La Tour Blanche Sauternes - in a good place. Easy to drink, and nice complexity
1978 Yalumba VP - one of the racehorse series. Lovely powdery blackberry fruit and a great finish to the evening.

Lots of beautiful drinking 8)

Shell and guys,
Thanks. Another incredibly enjoyable night. No duds amongst any of the wines, quality and variety were truly outstanding, every bottle had something. All the MRs were good, but so was everything else. Like Chris, the 76 Wynns Black Label was my WOTN. As usual, the food at Scopri was excellent, was a bit noisy at the table downstairs, but I was ok with that.
Cheers, Malcolm

Yeah - a great night.
Wasn't there a third Moss Wood, or did I just imagine it?

Great night.

You left out the 2001 Moss Wood Chris.

Might have some explaining to do next time Shell sees you.... after all the table voted it the best wine ever made in the universe :D

Chris,
Thanks for the notes, on the money as usual. My iPad notes for the 2001 MW were

2001 Moss Wood
Med red beautiful red black fruits medium tannins, some youthfulness, nice drop

As usual, my notes dropped off towards the end, we did get through a power of excellent wine. Being a bit of a gadget freak, I did enjoy the first instance of note taking using the Apple Pencil with a hand writing recognition App. Quicker than the on screen keyboard.

Cheers, Malcolm
