2005 Ch. Pichon-Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac 75cl x 12
Awoke to an old bid being successful. I'm trying this wine investing thing and I keep bids below the Bordeaux Index and get lucky every now and then.

Finally broke the ice:
6 x Hungerford Hill 2013 Coonawarra Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. A Hunter operation trying to get some respectability. A monster bristling with tannins and acid and one for a long sleep in the cellar. Interestingly it's 13.7%.
3 x Anvers 2002 Reserve Shiraz - Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek. Great juice ready to go.
1 x Anvers 2002 Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon. Bought on spec.

picked up a case of 2012 Mortet Gevrey Chambertin in Honkers. .... Nice wine, and absolutely fantastic deal (worked out to only AUD $70/bottle) even allowing for the worthlessness of the current Aussie peso.
there are also some absolutely stunning deals coming out at the moment, as many e-tailers/retailers are moving their final stocks of 09/10 excess stocks of 12 Bordeaux.
people whom say there is no value in Bordeaux are now out of touch. The 2014 Canon can be had
en primeur for about $60 a bottle!!!! Holy crap, the 05, 09,10 and 12 versions of this wine are superb, and by all accounts 14 is in the same league. Now
there is real value in high-end wine!!! I am trying to resist further EP purchases, but 14 is really presenting some great opportunities.

I reckon I have a psychological problem. I can't resist wine bargains even when I have 6 dozen wines that won't fit into the cellar. Another $1000 down the tube but that's alright because the wine would have cost me closer to $2000 if I'd paid retail. What a furphy - I'm sure I don't need it but I just can't resist it. Help me someone before I spend my entire superannuation on wine I don't need. This afternoons loot includes:
11 x St Hugo 2008 cab sav
9 assorted bottles of old Leo Buring Rieslings
Some old Mt Mary Quintet, Devils Lair cabs, Hardy Tintara Cabs, Wynns Michael, Serafino Shiraz, Langi Shiraz, and many others to boot.
Maybe I just need to drink more?

' worthlessness of the current Aussie peso.'
Felix, I know you are only kidding. Remember that the Aussie is still worth 50% more than it was about 10 years ago.
'I reckon I have a psychological problem. I can't resist wine bargains even when I have 6 dozen wines that won't fit into the cellar'
Luke,I feel your pain, bro. But you can always sell the stuff you go off. There'll always be plenty of wine in the meantime

More bargains -
2004 Wild Duck Creek Duck Muck
2006 Orlando Centenary x 2
2009 St Hallett Faith Shiraz x 6
2006 Penfolds St Henri x 2
It's difficult selling wine from Central Qld - almost as difficult as attending offlines!
I now have possibly enough for the rest of my life but no doubt that won't stop me buying more (just need a bigger cellar). Amazingly virtually no wine has gone off or oxidized yet.

Again, I'm with you. I'm amazed how long most wine keeps. Maybe it depends on your palate - if you just like primary fruit flavours or not.
I'm curious to why you can't sell wine in Queensland. Do the auction houses refuse to sell it due to possible as storage conditions? Even if it's been cellared professionally?

..... lucky you!!!
I absolutely love this wine, Parker did not, and so it is a real bargain. (not so much in HK, where the locals adore Pichon). If you have trouble realising the price you want, let me know!!!!!
