Really relaxed venue, great food, great glassware and very focused on wine (couple of the waiters are somms).
I can book for the 30th if everyone wants to go ahead?
Looks great. I'm happy with Syracuse if everyone else is.
Are we going to have a wine theme?

Count me in! As for theme, I definitely reckon we should taste blind - so much more interesting when you don't know what it is. How about something like old world only or new world excluding Australia?

Blind is definitely more fun. I've had almost no experience with non-Australian wines, so either of those two suggested themes would certainly be an enlightening learning experience for me.

On the first page of this thread, there was interest from some others - Barney, sparky, felixp, Jim, LGW & simon1980. We might already have another 5 or 6.
If we end up with ~12 people, perhaps we should each bring 2 bottles of the same so everyone can have a reasonable amount of each wine instead of just a small shot?

Is there corkage with Syracuse or will they waive it with the 100 buck menu?
I am still good for the 30th.

Excellent.
Considering suggestions for a blind tasting shall we share our selections with the restaurant so they can tailor the menu?

Five seems like it may be too few.
I have tried my usual suspects and they graciously declined.

Might get more interest if you loosen the theme? Old World blind might scare people off.
I'll flick an Email to a mate I have down in Melbourne who might be interested. (he flew up to Sydney for one of our tastings fwiw)

Good food, great wine and awesome company..
We could make the theme less broad..?

Hoping that wasn't the case! Purely a suggestion in the absence of any others - am open to any theme as long as it involves wine!
On another note, do we actually have a restaurant reservation?

Yep! Reservation at Syracuse at 7 on Friday.
Happy with just 5 but still time for anyone else that wants to join!
Just bring a bottle of something interesting and we'll serve blind?
