Would love to come, but my wife will be 39 weeks pregnant at that point, so I'm "on call" & need to remain sober - and being sober at an offline would be blasphemy!

Still two places free guys for next Thursday 5th June. Great venue with superb food, and a vertical of Basket Press covering almost 15 years! I'm surprised we're not fighting people off!

Shame I'm the other side of the world... I have a few vintages from the 80s which need drinking soon.
Other side of the world? Piss weak excuse Mike

A mate of mine, Colin, a Stonewaller, is grabbing one of the two remaining places available, and is offering an '08 BP, so only one place left Sydney forumites, to taste a horizontal of world class proportions!
BTW booked for 6.30pm.

Ugh, it is looking like there may still be 2 places left in any event folks. I am looking decidedly shakey due to some unexpected work commitments for Thursday and Friday. So. Much. Basket Press.

Have a great night crew.
Sorry to be missing out, and a pity that the curse of the 06 strikes once again. I recall last time someone nominated it but couldnt make it. A favoured vintage of mine and always wanted to try it in a vertical.
If i can get to storage, will aim to pop one into the decanter this weekend and report back....apologies in advance Rooman, consider it research mate
+1 on Cafe Lyon, had a great night there a couple of weeks ago, excellent food and service.

If anyone who is going works in the city and wants to grab an '06 off me as a gesture of good will for the organisation efforts and my late withdrawal please let me know and will bring one in to work tomorrow, you can come grab it. I'm in the MLC Centre, Martin Place. Unfortunately my assistant is not in tomorrow so I can't have her deliver it to the restaurant during the day.

Would you swap for a 2009 Wendouree Shiraz? That way Cam can go. Not sure if anyone is near the MLC? I'm at Botany. Will try and somehow get into the city if need be.

Dave I am honestly happy to kick it in. Everyone on the site has been very generous with knowledge and also wine at the previous offline I went to. But hey, did anyone really ever say no to a 2009 Wendouree Shiraz? That would be totally stupid, like saying no to a large vertical of BP!

I should be in the city tomorrow for a couple of quick meetings...Was planning on getting a haircut (which I need desperately haha) but I can go pick this up so Cam can go. You guys can work out the Wendouree thing afterwards....

Dave was talking about doing a drive by drop off but my availability to get out of the office at all tomorrow is very limited so this might be easier, if Polymer can come up to my office and grab it?

OK sounds good. Probably more convenient all round, I'll pop your wine in the post so PM your details so you should have it tomorrow or Monday.

Dave, the restaurant has decanters. I was at Cafe Lyon last night and we discussed our 'needs'. Perhaps the Zaltos would be a thoughtful offering though. They are providing 2 quality stems pp but I am bringing one of those stemless Riedel shiraz glasses as well.
Booked from 6.30. Is that too early for you lot?

7 might be preferable, but usually some people are delayed no matter what time it starts, so maybe say 6.30 but aim for a 7pm start? Might not be there until 7.05 myself,
Will bring 2 Zaltos. Praying to cork deities has commenced.

I am having lunch around MLC centre tomorrow and would happily drop it off to maybs' office if you like, save on postage costs and the inherent delivery risk. If that's suitable to all, bring along tonight Dave and ill take it home.
I too will be bringing a pair of Zaltos.

Question for those with more knowledge than me - should the Rockford Black shiraz be served chilled or at room temperature?
Cheers,
David.

I don't know specifically David, but I would suggest a bit chilled is good.

Yes, I would vote for chilled too. Somewhere between cellar temp and fridge temp. It can always be warmed in the glass if people want.

Basket Press 2004 is decanting.... Was thinking I should have left it for quite a few more years, but upon seeing the cork, I'm happy it's being opened now!! Certain eras of Rockford are becoming notorious for these wet spongy soaked through corks, and from many reports elsewhere, it seems that 2004 is one of the worst offenders. And no, it's not a storage issue.
Smells good, but will definitely show much better after decanting for a few hours.
My ETA as mentioned is around 7.05. Please save some bubbly or white for me!
