Two of my guests have pulled out, so it will just be me and Gail.
Cheers

With under a week to go, time to bump up the thread again and work towards final bookings and what people are taking:
Sam +1 - 1985 Wolf Blass Black Label magnum
Sam's ring-in #1 (TBC)
Mark Jappe & Gail - 1996 Pyrus magnum
n4sir - 1990 Yalumba Signature magnum
Gavin - 2004 Kalleske Greenock shiraz magnum
Tonsta - 2002 Reilly Dry Land Cabernet magnum
Crazy Dave - 2003 Torbreck The Steading magnum (via Ian)
Jeff W - 1988 Wynns John Riddoch magnum
Nikit - (Port + Chardonnay?)
Scanlon & Matt - (something white?)
Steve & Tina (Ian's ring-ins) - 2x 1982 Moulin Touchais Coteaux du Layon
Garth & Marrianne (Ian's other ring-ins) - 1997 Brokenwood Semillon magnum
I still may have another one or two people interested - as I said before, if nobody drops out this will be a fairly big turnout.
Cheers,
Ian

I can confirm Crazy Dave is in....not sure what he'll bring. He's ("I'm") limited for options

The one magnum between the two of you is enough - we're not exactly going to be short of wine.

I'd definitely like to be in. Could do a magnum such as John Riddoch 88, or PBV Summit Chardy 94.
Would it be better do bring a Champagne + a sticky or fortified.
Cheers,
Jeff

88 Riddoch or champagne both sound good. I probably won't have time to fetch any champagne magnums from the tunnels before saturday.

I wouldn't mind seeing the 1994 Pipers Brook Vineyard Summit Vineyard Chardonnay for a couple of reasons. That last couple of times I've tried it (a magnum in 2005 and 750ml bottle in 2007) that vintage seemed to be traveling really well, and it mightn't be a bad idea to have another white or something different to try (especially when the latest weather forecast is for 40C again.
)
Cheers,
Ian

I'd love to try the '88 Riddoch Jeff!
It would compliment the '90 Signature and '85 Black Label.

Crazy would like to contribute something on his own. I'm sure he'd be happy to give you cash to compensate for bringing both magnums Jeff (i.e '88 JR and the '94 PB Chardy). That way everyone wins
(including me!)

Sorry all, but I am going to have to pull out as an unavoidable fixture clash has arisen. Enjoy the night and I look forward to Ian's notes.

Sorry to hear that George.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is now up to a maximum of 42, if we're lucky it might get down to somewhere in the lowish 30s during the evening - not exactly good red drinking weather.

Despite the hot weather I'm really looking forward to this guys (probably not Sunday morning
). Hope there's enough food because there will be no shortage of wine
Anyway, what are we doing re preparing the wines? Should I double decant the Reilly's?
Tony

Just been into the cellar to get wines for tonight. Have the JR, which I will bring, but can't put my hands on the PBV. It's there somewhere.
Anyway, Ian, I'll bring it on a future occasion for you to partake.

Jeff, did you find anything for Crazy Dave? Also do we need to bring glassware?

Hi All,
I've rang Park Lok at lunch and finalised the booking for 17 people. It's air conditioned, glassware is okay but if you want additional ones to allow you to keep a wine or two to the side you may want to BYO stems.
I've got a magnum of 2003 Torbreck The Steading Dave can use, it should make for a good transition from the whites to the heavier reds.
Cheers,
Ian
