Got a couple myself, latest reports suggest it just needs a ton of time. Since you've got 12, take one for the team and let us know??

Henschke Offline!

This is a good idea! I'll get my people on to it! Perhaps late May?

Where do you live? It's just a simple flight to Sydney! Oh... and then there is the accommodation thing. But it will be worth it. :) All that HOG that all the generous offliners will bring along will make it worth while.

I'm sure it will be fantastic, unfortunately I'm in Perth so will have to sit this one out. Looking forward to seeing the TNs.

Further proof that Penfolds Grange is a false market. I have the opportunity to buy the 2006 for $266 nz. Hmm how many should I get?

Agree Craig, like a previous post of getting offered 10+ year old Magill Estate for nearly half the current release price. And why would you bother with most of the Bin range, auction prices are cheaper for wines with several years on them.

Seems things have gone very quite on the Penfolds front... Chinese down turn, who is going to buy it all...the spin doctors will be working as hard as they can in the next fortnight.

BTW wandered into Uncle D's could not help myself, another case of 2012 Leonay...I will be like Cleopatra soon...good enough to bath in, just give me a straw!! :D :D

Cheers Craig

Yikes. First wine in the door this year...........err. Think that's right.
2011 Obsidian. Actually an ep buy about a year ago, but turned up yesterday.
And today's delivery;
2011 TeMata Coleraine
2011 TM Zara
2011 TM Elsdon. Saw the recent thread on buying chardie in ½bottles. Decided this a good option for me. Don't drink a lot
of white wine, those, mostly over summer, so, a few 750's and 12 btl case of halves.
Bit of an effort getting all this stowed away. Opening the door risks ½'s of Elsdon flopping on the floor.

Very very occasionally I just think to hell with being "good", I am going to buy a couple of classics. A couple of big guns:

2001 Ch Suduiraut Sauternes (750ml)
One I had been drooling over for about 3 years as it sat lonely hidden in the depths of NZ's best wine shop at a very good price. I decided it was fate me and her. This wine would definitely sit in my top 10 wines I have ever tasted and in the context of great wines of the world it is stupidly cheap.

1998 Martinborough Reserve Pinot Noir
From the same place, picked up for $40 more than it was released for 12 years ago. I bought there last bottle about 4 years ago, now I buy their last bottle again! Very recently found unexpectadely in their storage cellars and hadn't made the shelf. It is now incomparably rare, famous and is arguably NZ's greatest ever Pinot Noir (certainly it would make the short list for anyone with half a brain). A couple of years ago the winery made an offer to buy these back for $500 a bottle. If it was stored as well as my last bottle, this one should be easily still drinking. Touch Wood.

1 x 2008 Wynns John Riddoch down in the cellar for a long slumber
18 x 2008 Treasures Coonawarra Cabernet. A virtual winery that's pumped out a damn fine everyday quaffer. Melbourne Street Cellars in Adelaide are good at finding obsure wines.

2008 in Coonawarra IMO was the best vintage ever. I think the 15 day heat wave in SA was less pronounced in Coonwarra and allowed more ripening with more blackcurrant flavours I do love.

And from auction 6 x 2008 Leabrook Estate Late Harvest Pinot Gris (375ml).

3 x 1997 Knappstein Hand Picked Clare Riesling, again from aution.

Took a lovely trip to Lambert Vineyards in Wamboin on Sunday. My wife's 2 favourite wines of all time are from here. It was a very pleasant chat and tasting with the wife half of the winemaking team. I really like the fact that older wines (back to 2001) are available to buy, and that wines are held back from release until deemed 'ready'. Definitely worth visiting!

For the cellar (well small wine fridge) ... 2x 2005 Reserve shiraz, 2x 2004 late harvest riesling and 1x 2006 pinot noir. Couldn't resist grabbing a 2006 reserve shiraz for a friend and a 2004 merlot and 2006 riesling to drink now as well.

I really need more storage space! I keep having to rotate wines out of the wine fridge and drink them early just to fit new ones in. Well more storage or more discipline not to buy anyway.

A few more cases of various vintages of Taittinger Comtes de Champagne as well as a couple of dozen more halves of Doisy Vedrines (the 09 vintage for Sauternes / Barsac is fantastic).
