If we can make it a Friday weekend I would have porbably 4 depending on the date and depending if I am here.

Thursday rules most of us out. I really want to go though as I have two awesome sneaky options wines..........

But if thursday is the consensus I will do everything to be there this time.

Yup Friday is even better, but not sure if Luke can manage the Friday. I'll go with whatever the majority wants - it's only work the next day after all :-)

I'm an almost, definite, Maybe...
Depending on the days. Kellee usually works Tuesday, Friday, Saturday one week and then Tuesday, Thursday the next. I'll have to check. I'm keen though. It's been way to long.

I seem to recall a number of people catching a cough at the last offline  and not being able to front for work the next day......

Any chance you can come earlier/leave later Luke to give us more options? If you can't, no biggie. Just might mean we have to have a couple of offlines in quick succession............

Cheers

I'll try to fit in with whatever you guys choose. I have a nephew's 30th birthday party on the 1st Saturday (19th?) at Wondai of all places and was just going to wander down after that. I'm happy to hang around for most of the week but don't think that my darling will give me a leave pass for more than a week, so the outside day for me would be the middle saturday night if it helps.

I was just thinking if we get 12 people Brent's automatically treats it as a function. In that case we need to select from the function menu. The dinner function menu looks reasonably good too.
http://www.brentsrestaurant.com.au/asse ... n_info.pdf
I note this too:
'Our Liquor license contains specific requirements with closing times. Functions will have to
wind up by 11 30 pm and must go no later than midnight'.
It may need to come into consideration depending on the start time...

I'll make a tentative booking next week, and also try and get an updated menu as I think the website is a bit out of date.

So far definites I have,

Nick+1
Michael
Luke
Rens+1

Would 7pm be a better start time to make sure we finish in time?

I'm sure I've missed people who have responded so please yell out.

I am a + 1 (Tony who came to the last one) and maybe a + 3 (our wives). Only hiccup may be that Tony's wife is vegetarian and Brent's doesn't cover that side of things very well (though it's got carnivores covered nicely :D ).

7.00 or 7.30 are fine (not sure I have the staying power for four hours anyway).

Someone want to suggest a theme?

Cheers

Guy's, I will be back at work for the month of Sep and not able to make it. Have a great night, have never been to Brent's and wish I could have made it....maybe the next one. Cheers Gerry

I'm sure it won't be an issue - as long as I give them a heads up in advance once we have firm numbers.

That's a shame Gerry - we'll have to squeeze in another before Chrimbo!

What about an area as a theme e.g. Coonawarra or Barossa/Clare or Margaret River, or maybe great years - 1996/8, or maybe icon wines like 389's/707's/ Mt Edelstones or maybe icon winemakers like Kinzbrunner/Tony Brady/Max Lake and we could produce a short bio on the nite or maybe we could be responsible for a match with part of the menu so that we get to try all sorts of combinations.......

I'm trying to get my better half to come along as well (Janine) but will let you know whether she can make it.

cheers

OK. I can do Coonawarra, Barossa, Clare, Margaret River, 1996 (last one in the cellar), 389's, 707 (only one in the cellar).

I remember Luke asking "What's the story with this wine?" at the last one and thinking that was a good idea. So what about wines with a story? You know "this is the wine that I had the first night I went out with Kylie Minogue" or something.

I don't have any 98s or 96s (though I have my eye on a couple).

I do have a Wynns Centenary 1991 I got recently that looks like it's in good nick.....

I was thinking of a 2008 McForbes Woori Yallock for Kellee.
Then tossing up some others: A 2001 389 which should be good about now or a 2002 Metala Shiraz that should also be looking good. Then there is always time to get on an auction if none of these fit...

I really like this idea - maybe the memories or the story in combination with something great to drink???

Inspired..... I have some Debortoli 1995 sacred hill chardy that has a great story...................

in all seriousness it is a great idea - with the proviso that everybody needs to tell the story on the night.

Not sure about the whole story thing - I'm not very lyrical but I'll give anything a go! I'll be bringing an 01 of something red (that I was going to be bring last time) and I'll probably bring a white as well - not sure what yet.

Brents is booked for 7pm on the 24th - I've let them know it's an offline and said there will be around 10 of us - perhaps a few more, maybe a couple less.

So far we have

Nick+1 (maybe +2)
Michael+1 (maybe +3)
Luke (maybe +1)
Rens+1
Chillwrx + 2

So 10 confirmed with another 4 maybe - I've told Brent's I'll firm up the numbers with them a week before, as Rens pointed out if there are 12 or more it will be the function menu. I'll get updated menus from them when confirming and will also make sure they have a vege option if Tony's wife is attending.

Should be a great night - Nick
