Thought I would get the wine list up. People can then add their own notes should they wish.

Excellent night with CT somehow getting a steal of a price for the banquet we had. $40 all in was stunning value.

2008 Magpie Estate Gewurztraminer[/b]
SC. Party white. Fresh spicy nose and zingy off-dry palate with some sherbet. Good wine.

1990 Leo Buring Leonay Eden Valley Riesling
C. Deep yellow gold. Toffee, honeycomb and lemon on the nose. Rich palate with strong lemony acidity balancing the Honey flavours. Slightly phenolic bitterness on the finish. Excellent wine and WWOTN.

2002 Grosset Watervale Riesling
SC. Pale white gold. Slightly watery cleansing palate like water running over river pebbles. Not sure where this is going. Very Good.

2002 Petaluma Riesling
SC. Slightly darker in hue to the Grosset. Very focussed intense nose of lime. Fresh as a daisy. Excellent wine.

2006 Paul Anhauser QbA Riesling (Nahe)
C. Nose of botrytis. Balanced easy drinking off-dry palate with a lick of acid on the finish. Good wine for chinese.

2008 Hoddles Creek Chardonnay
SC. This tastes unfinished as yet. hard to judge and will not for a few months.

2002 Peel Estate wood aged Chenin Blanc
C. Smoke and lemon along with formaldehyde. A little too oaky but in the right direction. When will Australia be able to match the Loire?

1999 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay
C. Oxidised

2007 Foillard Cote du Py Morgon
C. Jubey hubba bubba, strawberries and acetone. I though this was a carbonic maceration nose but apparently no proportion underwent anaerobic fermentation? Some Strawberries on the palate. Very fresh wine but a little young as yet for me.

2005 Jean-Marc Despres Cave de la Madone
C. Night and day to the wine above. A nose like walking past jasmine at night. Quite a mineral palate. Delicious and a Very Good wine.

2006 Ashton Hills Reserve Pinot Noir
SC? Caramel and tamarind on the nose. Very intense, fleshy palate. Very Good wine but I preferred the Fleurie RWOTN (equal with the Leonay)

2003 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge (mag). C. A whiff of leathery spicy cherries. Juicy yet structured palate with a long finish. Very Good/Excellent wine.

2004 Marques de Riscal Rioja Reserva
C. Spicy with some oak. Some mint present. My shame that I thought this a Coonawarra (despite having this wine several times in the past). But I am a big boy and can admit to it Very Good wine.

2006 Paradise IV Dardel Shiraz
Diam. Similar to the last bottle. A little VA. Meaty and spicy. Funky and some iodine and mineral. Very Good wine now but I shall not keep.

2007 Delas Freres Cotes du Rhone Saint Esprit
C. Inky violets. A little simple but elegant. Some funk. Good/Very Good wine.

1999 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz
C. This was a lot more developed than the last bottle last year. Not sure if that is typical. A little porty on the finish but tar and licorice still on the mid-palate. Good but I wonder if there is better samples.

2006 Magpie Estate Gomersal Grenache
SC. Party wine! Rich gobs of fruit. Good wine

2002 d'Arenberg d'Arry's Original Shiraz Grenache (mag)
C. Suffering from being in a little hole with solid fruit weight but yet to gain much secondary flavours. Good wine with potential.

2003 John Duval Plexus GSM
C. Nice wine. Classy GSM but suffering perhaps the hole problem that the d'Arry's did but I liked this better. Very Good.

1990 Lindemans St George Cabernet
C. Leather and mint. Very lean palate. Not for me.

1998 Peter Lehmann Eight Songs Shiraz x 2
C. Very youthful wine with freshly dug moist earth on the nose alongside black fruits. Mouthfilling palate with anise, tar. Chewy. Long finish. Excellent wine.

2006 Viña Casa Silva Reserva Carmenère
C. Plummy with some brown spices. Huge fleshy mid-palate. Finishes a little short. Good wine.

1997 Petaluma Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot
C. Lean elegant Coonawarra. Classy but lacks a little stuffing. Coming at the end didn't help it either. Good wine.

1930 Seppelt Para Port
What's to say? Long, rich, intense wine. Outstanding.

I have had 2 bottles of 99 Basket Press recently. There was some clear bottle variation. The first was tarry,and was hard going. The second much better. B

Its all in the cellaring Monghead I have had this in the cellar since 00/01 and has lived a wonderful life in a dark place with no distractions in its original box ,,We had a couple of the balmoral 98's the other night and had come from 2 different cellars .,, one at 16 degrees all year round and the other in a closed cupboard and the difference was amazing !!!!!!!!!!Yescork could have had plenty to do with it

I actually found the Grosset to be paler and less intense and even dilute to the Petaluma. On the other hand if it were a summer day then the Grosset would be more refreshing I suppose
