Bradley was expecting the final number of people going to be confirmed last night, so I assume the above 17 will be there. Remember guys, 7:15 for a 7:30 start, and importantly BYO glasses - if possible check your wines before coming to make sure they're not faulty too. That said, if we strike a dud bottle or two I don't think we'll be exactly short on wine.

This is looking like a ripper - see you all tomorrow.

The wife always thought it weird the concept of wine offlines. But she went to her first last week and enjoyed the antics of the zany Melbourne crew!

I was trying to get her along to this but earlier in the thread it was mentioned the ladies would be outgunned. Alas, she has made plans with her family.

Alas, the '91 Pyrus is off.

The cork crumbled, and was rapidly followed by soggy, musty odours of brett. It would have been bearable if there was any fruit left, but that too was gone.

Thankfully a 1998 Pyrus came to the rescue, and is OK.

Normally I would check all my wines before I leave, but I'm going to take the chance & open the '70 Meyney at Soho because I don't think it will last long when opened - I'll grab a bottle of Pinot from down the road as a backup in case it's a dud.

I saw on the other forum LL has opened a 1982 Chateau Canon 1er Grand Cru Classe St-Emilion and adjusted the list - 'sounds good too!

Just cracked the C. Melton Shiraz - it is smelling excellent. Intense small berry fruit with some toasty oak in the background. Looking the goods early.

Ah!! Can't find a corkscrew in the house! The exiting housemate seems to have half-inched them all.

Hope the Agly's not corked...

The Chinese stuff is horrible - I think the grapes are smoke (or smog) affected... it's too smoky to be be drinkable.

Bad news - the bottle of 1972 Metala VP is corked.
Better news - my backup bottle of 1972 Metala VP seems okay.

Both had lousy, short, loose corks that broke halfway leaving the bottom bit in the bottle - be careful when you pour guys!

I'm hoping the 1970 Meyney scrubs up - it would make a good pairing with Duane's 1985 Chateau Canon, and John's (now) 1998 Pyrus a good pairing with the 2001 Malleea.

We're now another person less too - Mark's +1 got an elbow infection up the river and won't make it, but Mark will still show. I've already rang SOHO and let them know two have dropped out since yesterday.

I could have told you that.

I spend a couple of weeks a month in China and haven't had decent wine yet- maybe Grace Vineyards is passable.

Red Edge is good.

Excellent night, everyone. Mouth was a tannic mess this morning but was well worth it. Looking forward to the next one!
