More closed and dusty, blackberry again and some spicy nuttiness on the nose. A mouth warming palate of blackberry an blueberry with a tingle of alcohol. Slightly chalky fine tannin, warming finish. Very good, another pleasant everyday drinking wine, also good if below $20.

Once again, the logic doesn't hold because even assuming the 01 Heysen was not as good as the 00 ( which I would dispute) it doesn't mean the Christina was better.

QPR is important but QPR and quality have nothing to do with each other, now do they? Just because a wine has great qpr doesn't make it a great wine.
As for the European who sat next to you at the dinner and passed comment, so what. it is just a nameless persons opinion and we have no idea if he has a good palate or not. Its here-say.

Martin made a very big call on these wines and in the first post I questioned the basis for that call.
When he responded, the answer seemed to lack substance, and more importantly, solid logic and that why I responded with my further thoughts. I am not having a go at him as a person, I have questioning his call on a range of wines, please let me repeat, its nothing personal. For the record, I have probally tasted more of the Veritas wines (in complete line ups) than most people so feel I have a pretty good handle on the range.

Couldn't agree more about two points.
The Tasting Notes, especially when posted individually, makes comments easy and welcome. Does make the board more vibrant and interesting. Indeed, not even full notes are required, if you go to an interesting tasting or cellar door, post thoughts, ideas sentences etc, a la the thread on Chain of Ponds, or Grant's SA trips.
Also agree with part two, debate is great, attacks are not. I also noted a slightly aggressive (right word?) note towards Martin, which I've also noted in the past towards TORB at times, these are unfortunate and discourage people's opionions.
Let's discuss the wines, even the opinions, not the person (alities).
