1982 Chateau Haut-Batailley
Another super long cork. Packed with sediment too. Light red colour with brown tinges. Classic Bordeaux nose. Just lovely – lush black fruit, sweet and ripe. Touches of leather developing. Pure fruit. Excellent. Lovely wine on the palate. At it’s peak (to me at any rate) although the seamless tannins suggest longevity. Excellent length. Very balanced and harmonious. No hint of excess oak or tannin. Rich but in a medium-bodied style. Well structured. Very, very close to a higher rating given my adoration of the lovely ripe, almost semi-sweet black forest fruits. A real surprise for me as it was much better than expected.
Excellent 18.5 / 20

Don't bother with the crappy ones and I have been drinking alot of great stuff recently - I hope this continues.
