Nelsons Trade tasting.

Post by Rory »

One of the perks of working in the Industry is getting an invite to a trade tasting , especiaslly one by a wholesaler (Nelsons) that has so many good wines to taste.
Breif impressions of a long afternoon are:

Victor Larwence Coonawarra Shiraz '99 Suprise of the night, brilliant!
Toolangi Reserve Chardonnay '01, fruit from Yarra Valley, wine made by Giaconda,WIne of the Night! Outstanding Giaconda little sister.
Yarra Edge '98 Cabernets. Great! Beautiful.
Mt Langi Cab/Merlot '99. Mutch overlooked, great wine.
Mt Langi Shiraz '00. Lighter style of this wine , but well structered for the long haul.
Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cab/Sauv '00. Typical of the style, a good example if you like the style.
Granite Hills Shiraz '01.Big, good fuit, lovely tannins, great wine.
Brent Creek McLaren Vale Nero '01. Good sparkling Shiraz!
Goona Warra Sunbury Shiraz '01. Another great find for the night,a great effort for a first vintage that will give it's neighbour a run for it's money. Good wine!
Murdoch Coonawarra Cab/Sauv '98. Has it all, a great Coonawara Cab for the price!
Shadowfax '01 Pinot. Very, very nice. Fruit from Yarra Ranges & Geelong.
Shadowfax '01 McLaren Vale Shiraz.Great nose, great fruit, lovely chewy tannins.

Aplogies for the brief notes, if anyone would like any further comment, just ask!

Regards,
Rory

Agree on many, Murdock et al, and the Shadowfax.

Were the Shadowfax Heathcote Shiraz on tasting? They're spectacular.

Hi Gavin,
No, I don't remember seeing it, but it wouldn't suprise me as being great, as everything they do seems to reek of quality.
