Glaetzer Wines were established 9 years ago. Most wines are created to target the American palate, trend and taste. Winemakers Colin and Ben Glaetzer knows exactly what styles are succesful. Grapes for this wine were harvested from 80 years old vines in the Ebenezer district of the Barossa. The wine spent 18 months in oak. This is the flagship shiraz.
Colour dark cherry red. Interesting cooked plums on the nose with sweet oriental spices, even some cinnamon. First class smooth fruit on the palate. Very, very rich and easy to like. Modern and careful winemaking resulted in a highly sophisticated wine. No rough edges or what some would consider 'traditional' Barossa characters. A perfectly designed wine with superb richness and balance. Sweet cooked plums melting in the mouth with long flavours of black cherries and red berries. The oak sits quietly but firmly in the background, a tasty fruit driven wine. It is excellent drinking right now, will develop for an other 8 years. To live the American dream, you must pay AU $50 which is money well spent if this is the style you after.
