“There are no standards of taste in wine. Each mans own taste is the standard, and a majority vote cannot decide for him or in any slightest degree affect the supremacy of his own standard". Mark Twain.
I've got a case of mixed Noons sitting under my desk waiting for me to take them home. I got the limits on the reserve cab, shiraz and eclipse and rounded out the dozen with the rose and twelve bells.
Then ordered Rockford's 6* 06 Basket Press, 3* NV Black Shiraz and 3 * 08 Alicante Bouchet.
Cheers,
Kris
There's a fine wine between pleasure and pain
(Stolen from the graffiti in the ladies loos at Pegasus Bay winery)
6 x Palliser Chardonnay 2007
6 x Palliser Riesling 2007
6 x Palliser Pinot Noir 2006
(All from the winery, where the pricing is very sharp as wineries go -- and they threw in a magnum of the Pinot as a bonus. The '07 chard in particular looks very good.)
6 x Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay 2007
6 x Neudorf Moutere Riesling 2007
6 x Passage Rock Reserve Syrah 2006
3 x Ata Rangi Craighall Chardonnay 2007
3 x Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2007 (just released a day or 2 before visiting the winery)
2 x Burnt Spur Pinot Noir 2006
2 (more) x Craggy Range Aroha Pinot Noir 2006
Edit - I bought a few summer quaffing whites at auction for $5/btl, including some 02 and 04 Waipara Springs chardonnay - both drinking nicely: bright, fruity and quite well balanced without too much oak. Can't complain for the price. (Also some St Clair riesling 04 at $6)
