Spinifex is the creation of a couple of Barossa folk, Peter Schell (winemaker at Turkey Flat) and his partner Magali Gely.

Very small operation, interesting wines, mostly blends with Cinsault, Mataro, Grenache and other bits and pieces, well made wines.

I have had the 01 Esprit, here is the note:

Dark red purple. A real savoury food style, with some black berries and fennel/aniseed character and a nice dusting of white pepper and spice. Yum indeed.

The 02 reds are available, and supposed to be very very good, but all the info I have is second hand. Very limited quantities, particularly the new Shiraz Viognier.
