TN: 2001 Serafino McLaren Vale Shiraz

Post by Gavin Trott »

This label is simply one of my favourites, end of story. The wines are not particularly complex, they are not even subtle, they are quite simply, deliciously easy to drink, full of flavour, and 100% authentic McLaren Vale. Both wines are large mouthful's of fun!
Its deep red with crimson and purples edges, the nose is all ripe, concentrated fruit, black cherries, oak, mint and rich cream. Its a big wine – rich, ripe and opulent, a real wine of this warm vintage. There’s some creamy oak, lashings of sweet, juicy fruit and ripe tannin, with that typical finish of coffee and dark chocolate ... pass me another glass.

I have a bunch of Serafino 2001 shiraz left over from my fiance's 30th last year and we have probably drunk a couple bottles per month since.
It has tasted better on the second day every time there was some left over for the next day.
