With the big day nearly upon us, my thoughts have naturally been directed to what I will be requiring from my cellar to drink on the day. As it is located some 50 km's away from me in Adelaide, I better get it right!
I thought a nice bottle upon waking to start with would be:-
NV Jean Vesselle 'Oeil de Perdrix' Rosé Champagne
followed by with lunch:-
1999 MountAdam Chardonnay
2001 Kays Hillside Shiraz
1999 Crossroads Reserve Shiraz
1990 Eileen Hardy
With afternoon Dessert:-
1991 Banyuls
Later that night if I am still alive:-
1982 Bas Armagnac, OR
Courvoisier XO Cognac
coupled with a nice Cohiba Siglo ll cigar.
During any non-drinking stages of the day, Corona beers and Muscato d'Asti work well.

As work has me stranded in Seoul on a transaction for christmas, the corporate card has come out and they are paying for lunch for me and a few colleagues simarly stranded...so as follows:
1988 Krug - to warm up
1991 Show reserve sparkling shiraz with the turkey (my first bottle ever)
Found some 2000 Wolf Blass Platinum Label Cabernet in a shop here, so will give that a crack, has anyone tried this??
1999 Villa Maria Reserve Cab/Merlot
1990 Chateau Guiraud to finish
And probably plenty of vodka tonics later on!

The answer is a simple one, sparkling shiraz for me. I have to drive to Sydney (and back) 
so its damn near an AFD for me! 
The family starts with c-though bubbles (provided by sister number two along with the starters) but I will pass on the c-though and hit the FRS. Sister number two does the turkey bit and I have to provide the wine. Which Sparkling Shiraz I have not decided yet, possibly something out of a cask, after all they are family. 
Hang on, I don't have any of that so it may have to be a 90 Seppelts Show Reserve or a 94 Classic Clare, or my last original release of the Joseph, or possibly all 3. I will decide tonight when i put them in the fridge.
Pud will be with the 375ml bottles of Seppelts DP63. I thought about some flagon sweet stuff but my sister already has the six pack of DP63 that she picked up from Langtons for me a few months ago so its less to carry home if we drink some of them there.
Have a good one everyone. And if you have to drive to it sober.

I have relatives like Graeme's so I might be seeing some rosemount on Christmas day (by the way I've been laughing all through that other post). I might take along something cheap and not nasty like Seppelts 98 Sparkling shiraz or maybe the Fox Creek Vixen and I'm with Ric on the DP 63. How good is that stuff? Might be a Seppelts day which is unusual but noice.
Boxing day I'm having a few friends over so I've got a case of Coronas in for the hot weather as well as a case of Evans and Tate Classic dry white or whatever it is. Got a great price on that and should be a nice early drinking white. Saying that, I've never had it so who knows!
Nothing spectacular but lots of everything.
Merry Chrismas everyone.

Not in Christchruch for Xmas, been in Hamilton for cricket test between Black Caps and Pakistan and have now moved on to Tauranga to be with my brother and his family for xmas then on to Wellington for Boxing day test between the same sides. Tauranga is home to two Top NZ wine companies Morton Estate and MillsReef both whom ive visited in the last few days, grapes are all sourced from outside the Bay Of Plenty area.Most of the wines from these vineyards are available in CH-CH but there are always cellar door wine not seen elsewere as was the case with Mills Reef, 1998 MillsReef vintage Port Mainly made from Merlot grape, came in 500ml bottles and sold for $24, closer to a european port than Aust. one took my fancy and have forward 1/2 doz on to CH-CH.
Xmas wine will be anything from Daniel Le Brun in Marlbrough as my brothers company is major share holder in the company. He not into wine himself but knowing im here he has filled the house with samples of the vineyards range, ive told him he is a good guy. Will not push the envelope too hard as have to fly out to Wellington 7.00am boxing day.
